Yay or Nay? Rugged Ridge Xhd

Is the bumper any good?

dipstickinva 03-21-2013 08:41 PM

I have the front and love it.

Heck yea.

I was one who jumped on the Amazon $200 price mistake.
Awesome bumper IMO. Well made and no rust over the winter. Can't say that for other components I've bought.

bvanfossen 03-21-2013 08:55 PM

Good news. I like the look with the bull bar.

What's the amazon $200 mistake?

TrueBlue 03-21-2013 09:03 PM

I have front and rear... match perfectly with the jk imo

HAFICON 03-21-2013 09:06 PM

Love mine. Have it in combo with Rugged Ridge 8500 and Pre Runner. Also the rear XHD Bumper goes well with it as said before.

The installation bolts have a good bit or rust on them now after this winter but gonna replace them with Stainless Steel this summer.

A member posted. The bumper was marked $200 w/ free shipping.

20 or so bought it. Amazon iirc honored them all at that price.

The XHD was the bumper I have been looking at....I think its one of the best looking I have seen. Hearing everyones positive feedback just make me wanted move my order date up!

I am currently sitting stock....how much droop can I expect when I purchase and install the front bumper? I would be purchasing the full end caps and bull bar.

MangoTangoJK 03-21-2013 09:17 PM

Just ordered mine earlier this week and its being delivered tomorrow! Along with a few other goodies. :punk:

HAFICON 03-21-2013 09:17 PM

Just bumper...

I lost about 1/2 inch
http://i677.photobucket.com/albums/v...rontbumper.jpg

With winch installed and bar I have a 2" spacer installed and it sits level. If that helps any.

What are your spring rates ?

The bumper is about 75 lbs I think. It's the winch that will sag the front if you have the lower number springs.

If you plan to stay stock. Get yourself some 1/2"-1" spacers for the front if sagging becomes a issue.

I think I do have the lower number springs front and rear.

Yeah the bumper weighs about 75 and the winch with steel cable weighs about 80, 1" spacers are a good idea.

D.B. 03-21-2013 09:26 PM

Thanks for the feedback.....looking at a small lift which should address the issue anyway.

msubrave 03-21-2013 09:31 PM

I like this bumper a lot. Is there any cutting or trimming to install or is it strictly bolt on?

HAFICON 03-21-2013 09:34 PM

2012 and up requires cutting and minor relocation of the E-Vap pump. But it is worth it.

TrueBlue 03-21-2013 09:35 PM

Vac pump relocation if you have the '12 or newer

D.B. 03-21-2013 09:35 PM

From all the post's I have read on it....the only thing that might need to be addressed is an item on the 2012 models.....a pump or something simple I think. I believe the bumpers come with the relocation bracket too.

What cutting is required?

The factory pump bracket needs to be cut off and relocated.

MangoTangoJK 03-21-2013 09:45 PM

DB if you go to quadratec's website and find the bumper, you can look at the installation instructions and it will show you exactly what and where to cut.

http://www.quadratec.com/Assets/Installation/93750.pdf

^^^^^ link to the installation instructions. Should be the last page I believe.

MangoTangoJK 03-21-2013 09:46 PM

The rubi is only for the sway disco...

MangoTangoJK 03-21-2013 10:01 PM

Yeah. That's what is detailed on the last page of the instructions. Cutting some of the bumper away for the electric disco. That's what I was talking about. Sorry for the confusion.
