Drop tailgate FYI

FYI: I know I've seen people ask about drop style tailgates before.

That's pretty cool, I wonder if its expensive and how hard it is to put in.

I want to see more of that jeep.:D

It's listed on Swagoffroad.com for $169.99 plus S&H.

There are also more pic's of that jeep if you follow the link in 4point's first post.

there's benefits to both the drop and swing away tailgate. the drop is good if you have to sometimes carry longer cargo (like wood form the lumber yard), plus it's a nice seat when at a tailgate party. the swing away is nice because it moves out of the way so you can have easier access. i think i like my swing away better personally, but i'm not sure why.

I might have to get one of those. Although I don't like the spiderweb gusset thingy.

EDIT: On second thought I could make my own and probably do away with that latch they added and use the stock latch.

if you watch the video it seems they use the stock latch and the other latch they supply to hold each corner of the gate.

Ahh.. I didn't watch the video. Bandwidth issues at the moment.

It looks as though you could cut the spiderweb portion off. It appears to be just decorative.

Your right. But where's the fun in modifying someone else's work when you can make your own. :D Besides I would be more apt to build something to handle a little more weight or make it more sturdy all together. I was kind of thinking turning the tailgate into a trail work bench. Maybe that will be my next project.

Its a great idea, finding a clean flat spot to work or make lunch on the trail is hard to find.

I'm going to have to figure out a clean latching system. The stock one won't work cuz there is that big hump for the latch and I don't much care for the one on the outside that's in the video.
