Trying to remove rear seatbelts - HELP. stripped torx bolts

Beginning to prep to bedline my interior. Removed the carpeting in the back, and sure enough I stripped the torx bolt holding in the rear seat belts. They seem super flimsy.

There might be enough left to get it out. Anyone have any suggestions for getting it out? What I should do to get the others out?

Or if u have a welder weld a bolt to it and use a wrench

Use a left hand drill bit, it works all the time.

Is that 2nd picture after it was "stripped"? If so, it really doesn't look bad and if you get a nice a new T55 Socket Bit it should come right out. Just my thoughts.

I agree it doesn't look stripped, a new bit and let it sit in some lubricant or something such as pb blaster, wd-40, ect. Before you put the bolt back in coat it in never-cease so its easier to get out next time.

It doesn't look bad try going a size higher with the torx. Should work :thumb:

spray it from the underside with PB Blaster too.

and make sure you're using the right size torx. most of the time when somebody strips a Torx, it's because they're using too small a bit.

Hammer in a larger bit. Although the bit will be ruined. You can also grind two sides flat and use a pair of vise grips.

But it doesnt really looked stripped.

Use a dremel or a hacksaw and cut a flat spot on the outside of the bolt, then use pliers or an adjustable wrench (I recommend the wrench) to get it off
This is what I did on the torx bolts on the bumper

Give this man some credit ^ that's genius haha. 2 flat spots would probably be better though if you can. :thumb:

Well might as well just grind the head completely off, remove belt bracket, and grind bolt flat.

If he ever wants to put his seat belts back in that a bad idea. I say take the whole thing out and put a hex head back in so its easy to get back out.

If this were my situation and I didn't have a torch, this is what I would do: Soak the threads with Break Free CLP. Break Free CLP is by far the best rust penetrate I have ever used (13 year mechanic in a road salt state). You can find Break Free CLP probably at Wally World (gun section) or a gun shop as it is commonly used for cleaning and lubing firearms. It is kind of pricey, but worth it. Let it do its job though. Sometimes it is best to spray it a few times a day for week. It will come out easier if you take the time to do that. Also, make sure you have the correct size Torx bit and it is in good (not worn) condition. I like the impact driver idea from above but it must be used properly as it can be tricky if you've never used one before. Sometimes, smacking the Torx bolt with a good heavy hammer a few times, directly on the head will help loosen things up a bit. Then try to turn it out. If it doesn't budge, more spray, more whacking with the hammer. Don't be afraid to hit it either. I hope this helps, good luck and take your time.
