2013 JK Wont start

My jeep won't start. Battery died overnight, I think I left the door partially open. Put it on charger for an hour it started and ran for few seconds and shut off. Repeat it did it again. Left on charger for 3 hours. Now wont do anything. All lights accessories windows and so on works fine. Just no engine crank. Just clicks once and nothing else... Any ideas??

Sounds like you severely depleted the battery. Just enough juice to hold about 12v, but as soon as you try to start, it pulls the voltage way down and the solenoid clicks out.

after you get it started, drive around and run it for 30 minutes or so. sounds like u killed the battery. rev it a bit when u first get it started

cavsvet74 03-25-2013 09:03 PM

Charge it overnight and try in the morning.

BJK2080 03-25-2013 09:04 PM

It started and ran for a few seconds after I reved the motor up but shut off. Did that 2-3 times and left on charger for hours now and everything comes on but won't click over or nothing. Just clicks once and nothing.

I had my 2013 at the dealership recently and they re flashed the computer - they said it fixed an error that makes your Jk not start for no reason. You might check it out.

Z-TJ 03-25-2013 09:23 PM

My 2013 will shut off the light if a door is left open. I think u need to get it to the dealer.

Blastek 03-25-2013 09:38 PM

try using your spare key. the key fob battery may be dead or something might be wrong with it.

wrumley 03-25-2013 09:41 PM

sounds like the computer is in safety mode have to take it to the dealer for them to start had it happen on mine

BJK2080 03-25-2013 09:46 PM

Can't I just disconnect battery for 2hrs to reset?

wrumley 03-25-2013 10:24 PM

if your battery was totaly drained it can cause a false key start when it dies and the dealer has to start it thats what i was told but they started it for free

BJK2080 03-26-2013 05:50 PM

Update - Off to dealer she went today. They flashed the computer still nothing. Said everything has power. Said they'd call me tmrw.

BJK2080 03-27-2013 08:06 AM

They called today. Said that it's a wireless control module that's bad and that it won't recognize my key fob. Be another day till they get one. Not sure why this part would go bad in a brand new jeep?

Picked up from dealer on Saturday. Started right up! Got home with no stops. Loaded her up with all my tools and many new parts. Took top down and doors off. Took about 45 mins to get her all loaded up. Got in and went to start.... Click nothing. Same issue. Used other key same thing. Called roadside and off she went back to dealer. Guess they will have some explaining to do. 45 mins to unload put top on and onto rollback.

Sorry to hear! Shouldn't happen on a new jeep!! Hope you don't have a lemon.

ffbubba252 06-11-2013 08:26 AM

Did you get your issue resolved? Mine has done it five times. Towed twice - first time towed it and then it did it at the dealership while they were checking it and twice it started up after many attempts/opening closing the door/wiggling stuff around/etc. This morning it happened again and it started after I slammed the door several times. I dont know if that had anything to do with it or not. The dealership didnt think so. The check engine light comes on and they have run the code thing on it but say it does not give them anything to go on. It has been to two dealerships (due to the towing within 30 miles rule and where I was when it happened). It has always been a cold start after sitting all night. Hipe you got an answer I can pass along...ready to take it back and demand another one. :banghead:

Maybe your neighbor is testing a homemade EMP bomb?

BJK2080 06-12-2013 01:43 PM

TIPM was bad. Total integrated power management system

live_slow 06-12-2013 01:48 PM

When you guys are talking about key fobs, what are you talking about?

I just have a key (no optional door unlocking or starting witchraft) but are you guys talking about that or some kind of anti-theft chip in the key itself?

Wow... :nonono:

I hope the dealership is doing right by you considering you've been without your brand new ride multiple times in a very short time. Are they (or you) keeping records just in case you have to lemon-law it?

panthermark 06-12-2013 01:57 PM

That blows...
Hope everything works now.
That is one of the problems with new vehciles now-a-days....all sorts of computer controlled gremlins that can shut everything down.

I called my brother in PA first because he is a SVC mgr for a Chrysler dealer. He said it was the TIPM to begin with and the dealer here said it wasn't. After 4 trips they replaced it and has been fine ever since. I just turned 16K miles today on her.

I'm having the exact same issue and dealer can't find the problem and they can't find any info from Chrysler about others having problems. Did they cover this fix under warranty?

Mic

BJK2080 08-25-2013 03:35 PM

Yes. Just tell them it's the wireless control module and the TIPM. They won't like it but its covered.
