childs car seat position

I am new to the site and being the owner of a wrangler. My last rig was a '57 willys truck.

I recently purchased a 05 TJ to make room for my wife and 5 year old. My boy hates riding in the back because he can't see around the front seat. My thoughts are to find a way to secure his car seat in the middle of the rear bench seat, which would keep him from trying to stick his hands out the side or getting smacked by a branch. Has anybody else done this? I could build some frame work out of tubing and tie into the seat mounting brackets? Anybody have any ideas or pics of something they did or seen?

Thanks

your rear seat should have the "latch system" built in.. my seat from an 04 does.
if you still run a car seat that uses it, just install it into the middle using it.
not sure how you could do a booster style tho...

I did not notice the latch system but if your 04 does my 05 certainly should. Thanks for the reply.

Your response does have my thinking though. I know the boy is getting to big car his car seat and will need to go to a booster soon, so is there a better option out there than a booster style. Do any of the seat manufacturers make a 5 point seats for childern this age\size that would take the place of the rear bench? Any other ideas?

Thanks again.

Safety1st makes a few boosters that have 5 point harnesses up to a certain weight.
