Whats the best looking grille guard?

I'm looking to get a grille guard for my Jeep and I'm wondering what everyone thinks looks the best. I'm really open to anything, but not the biggest fan of chrome. If y'all have pictures of your own, that would be great.

This type gets my vote.

I prefer the utilitarian look,, this guard has been on my 04 for 9 years and on my 98. That's 15 years for a $50 investment...( see photos in profile )

I guess my photo in post #5 was too subtle, I was saying 'no grill guard' gets my vote. I dunno but in my opinion, a grill guard is in the same class as putting a bra on the front of a Jeep or ballet shoes on a grizzled old cowboy.

You must never have had to pull any dead birds outta your grill..

If that rare event ever happened to me, and it never has, it would take how long to pull it out? A minute at the most? Even if that happened regularly, it still wouldn't make me want to install a grill guard.

TJGARMA03 03-31-2013 12:13 PM

I actually hit several birds a year. Almost nailed a pheasant not too long ago that darted out from the brush on the side of the road. I've pulled several bird out of the grille area and have heard them nail my bumper as well. Still wouldn't get a grille guard though.

Hey Berend,

I guess I need more clarity to your question. Are you looking strictly for a grill guard? I bought mine from quadratec. $30? And it protects just the grill area in front of the radiator. It's on my profile pic

There are also brush guards stinger or what ever that bolt to stock bumpers and they protect the grill & fenders. They're marketed as grill/brush guards as well.

Which are you most interested in?

batty505 03-31-2013 12:28 PM

@jerry

When I first started wheeling during a 4wheel event, one of my friend's IH scout 800 slid downhill and poked a hole in his radiator from a tree branch.
We performed a trail fix, and I when I got home bought I immediately bought a grill guard.
Not everyone wants to use a winch to protect their radiator. ;)
HTH.

You think it would fit inside the grill...... in front of the radiator?

Rolly32 03-31-2013 07:43 PM

Here's mine.. I can also fit a winch since it's a winch guard by KC Hilites :thumb:

After looking at these, I'm beginning to think a brush guard might be more of what I'm looking for

Jeeper85 04-01-2013 01:32 AM

rolly that is one good looking jeep i like the cowl!!!!!!!

Greyeagle 04-02-2013 08:56 AM

I am looking for something more than a screen. The one at
Crown Automotive Part 488639 - Grille Bug Screen is a screen.
I'm thinking of something more to fit inside the grill to stop birds, rocks etc..... Thanks for you for your response
