Locking dana 35

Looking at locking my dana 35 with an eaton electronic locker. Tell me why I shouldn't :). Won't be running anything bigger than 33x 10.50's. I don't wheel hard just lots of slimy mud where I trail ride. Will I regret it?

You will regret it after the locker breaks one of the axle shafts. I thought we had this discussion in a different thread.

A locker should never be added to a stock Dana 35, it just isn't strong enough.

Just did a Eaton in my 35:hide:

Although I did superior gears & the super 35 kit with an Aussie the the front. No issues.Guess Ill find out at R/C soon.

D35 can handle 35s with the super kit as mentioned. Without the upgraded shafts, it's risky though. I met a guy at Rausch this summer who had a locked 35 w/ 33s and he wheeled harder than I did and ran all the black trails etc. Hard on the throttle and he said he has done it for years... Some d35s seem to grenade or blow a shaft very easily, while some seem to somehow survive the odds. I wouldn't risk it long term, and if you are going with an expensive locker and install, I would go with the whole Super35 kit.

So you do not end up like this poor guy. Took this pic during the last Jeep Jamboree I attended. I'd much rather spend a couple grand on a stronger rear axle than deal with this hassle.

This website shows tons of broken Dana 35 axle shafts... too many people don't know any better than to install lockers and/or big tires onto their Dana 35.

No sir. Not me. Must have been another person with the same idea.
