My mid life crisis
1 Attachment(s)
Here is a pic of my 2008 Sahara that is equiped with Tuff Country 2" spacer Lift and 295/70/17 Toyo M/T Open Country rubber on 17" Ultra Motorsports rims w/ the matching spare tire. Since this pic was taken I have installed a Smitty Built Billet Grill and a Rampage polished aluminum gas cap cover. The next to come is tint on the front windows and some seat covers. Considering a winch for a future upgrade. Having a great time fixin this new toy up. The last Jeep I had was almost 20 yrs ago and back then I couldn't afford much more than the gas to keep it on the road.:punk:

Is it going to see any off road?

scrambler1 11-19-2008 12:24 PM

how was the spacer lift to install? does it change the ride of the jeep alot? reason why I am asking my wife drives a 07' sahara,I was thinking of installing a RE spacer lift. Cant stand to even have one jeep stock. Nice looking jeep.
are you worried about scratching your wheels when you go wheeling?
:) only kidding, could not help myself.

welcome to the forum.

UnfortunatelyI picked it up on a Friday evening and had all the work done to it at a local tire shop the following morning so I didn't have much drive time on the factory ride, but from what I could tell there wasn't much difference in ride from the changes I made. With the spacer lift I didn't have to worry about voiding my warranty and I wanted just enough lift to make it different from stock and to get the tires under it.

Midlife crisis and you bought a Jeep?
Nice, but, you were supposed to get a Vette and take off for Vegas with a stripper. You obviously didn't read the manual.

Or you're already married to a stripper...

Nice Jeep; welcome aboard.

WOW! very nice. Get some dark tint to match the balck color...ASIDE from that you got yourself a good looking JEEP.

Change of plans
after driving it for awhile and wanting it to pull a trailer I decided to do a gear change. I ordered 4.56 gears today. Thanks for all the input from this forum to help with this decision. :blunt:

Very nice ! love black

afrats 02-02-2009 10:14 PM

Very nice. I agree with everybody else that you need to go get it dirty now.

Felsengleiskette 02-02-2009 10:37 PM

nice choice on gears. 4.56 is great for towing and turning those tires...are they about 32"? that gear is good up to 37" running stock

Good choice if you're not going to go larger than a 33" tire and tow.
Let me know if the gears are noisy --- I love my 4.56's but they make a bit of noise....
What brand did you order?

N39-W120 02-05-2009 10:16 PM

Nice!.... Its been 20 years for me too....

hedonist 02-06-2009 12:19 AM

Wow man. Congrats. You've come a long way from just gas money to a lot of toy-Jeep-upgrade-I have the sexiest Jeep-money.

HiDesert Jeep 04-14-2009 09:22 PM

Ok so I have ordered the gears and they were supposed to be in a month ago but no show yet. Getting impatient and doing too much research which is making me question if I should have gone with 4.88. The motor is in its horse power prime at 5200 rpm and the torque at 4000 rpm. Looking for a calculator to help determine the proper gear for that rpm range.

Ya I know:
My wife thinks I have too much time on my hands if I'm worrying about somethin like this. I should have been an german engineer they always think over engineer things.

Just relax.....and enjoy your Sahara. BTW, You never answered the questions back in that thing ever going to get dirty? LOL ----- I just got my Black 09 Rubi last night and it is WAY too clean.....I am not a huge fan of bling/chrome on Jeeps (especially Wranglers --- seems more at home on my bosses Escalade)......but that is just me, nothing personal --- Your jeep is great, I agree with the time on the gears....

I hope to take it out this weekend and I know where you are coming from. I am an engineer and believe me, I want to know every single detail about everything.

Thanks for the update.
