I'm in Nipomo :) What does your Jeep look like? I'm in a big Orange Crush Rubicon.

Cali94YJ 05-02-2013 01:51 PM

In the Lompoc/VAFB area with the sqaure headlights!

White 98 TJ. My wife and I are just getting into offroading. Just got a lift, winch and front bumper. Looking at tires next, as I have been told it looks funny.

Post a picture, that way when I see you I can wave :) Did you have the lift and winch installed or do it yourself? What tires are you looking at?

Here is a pic. Had it done as I am not a mechanic. I am looking at the Duratrac 33 x 12.5 or the BFG Kevlar 33 x 12.5

Nice looking Jeep!!

Who did the install for you? I have Dennis at Xtreme Unlimited in Oceano do my work. He worked on my 02 TJ I had prior to the JKU.

I'm running Duratrac's as my daily driver tires and love them. I also have the Kevlar MTR's I swap out when we go wheeling. There's a big difference on the highway with the two.

The Duratracs are a much smoother, stable ride. The MTR's are rougher, obviously with Kevlar sidewalls that would be the case. They weren't bad, just noticeable after running the Duratracs.

Both are 35", but the MTR's are a true 35" where the Duratracs are a tiny bit shy of 35". I don't know if that's the case with 33's.

No matter what you go with, they will really finish the look on your Jeep.

Thanks

Thanks. My wife and I are changing hobbies.... from motorcycles to offroading.... got the Jeep new in 1998 and are just now making the change over. We were at the Ventura Offroad show and got a good deal on all the parts from 4Wheel Parts in Thousand Oaks. They also did the work. I am very pleased with everything so far. The lift was a 3.5" spring lift and a 1" Body lift. Turned out to be 6" .... I am guessing that it will settle some. First time I got out of the Jeep I stumbled a bit.... bit further to the ground now... wasn't ready for that.

I've got 3.5", she's got alot of weight with the skids, sliders, bumpers & winch so it's settled a bit. I may add another 1" or so later, with the JKU it involves making some other changes that of course mean more $$.

I just want the clearance when we're off road, I'm not as tall as I think I am so even now I have to hop a little to get in. Lol.

I've heard good things about 4Wheel Parts, I'm glad they got you set up. Welcome to the addiction...............it's only begun :whistling:

There is one in Santa Maria called "Santa Maria 4 Wheelers"...haven't joined them as of yet, just found out about them a couple of weeks ago..:)

Lab Lover 05-04-2013 12:26 AM

I wave, sometimes I get returned waves and others I get odd looks. Lol, I had an older couple get so excited when I waved by Kohls in SM that he almost hit the curb.

I'm not sure if anyone here has been to Big Bear, but the next Meet & Greet will be there. Check out this thread and check your calendars, it would be great if a few from the Central Coast could make an appearance.

My husband and I went to the Calico Meet & Greet in March, they set up runs for every level of wheeler/rig and everyone is so helpful and fun!!!!! I highly recommend going on this if you possibly can.

There is another thread that has the poll to vote for the date. I voted for the July 28th date. If it doesn't fall on that weekend we may not be able to go :(

So check it out :thumb:
