To do a frame off or not? That is the big question. Any ideas?

My 84 CJ7 looks and runs great, however, when I start looking underneath, I see all the tiny leaks here and there. I see what looks to be small rust spots and just various other things that make my unhappy. I'm thinking about doing a frame off restoration this fall but not sure if I want to tackle that task by myself. Has anyone tackled that by themselves? Does anyone have any idea on how much I should be prepared to spend?
My Orange Beast has a 304 V8 with a small cam connected to a 5 speed tranny and she will haul a@@!!! However, it's the little things that I'm worried about turning into BIG problems if not corrected.
Anyway, tell me what your thoughts are, and THANKS!

A frame-off resto job is a BIG job. The good news for you is that it looks like your jeep is in pretty good shape.

I did this last year paired the restoration with converting a 5 to a 6, drive train upgrade, and conversion to a rock crawler.

Here's the thread: Tim's CJ-5 Version 6.0 Thread

The initial restoration took me 1,500 hours. I dedicated at least 40 hrs a week with nights and weekends for the first six months. Cost can vary based on how much work you do yourself..... I encourage you to do it all on your own or with friends.

I haven't done a jeep, but I did a '73 Bronco and a '78 Scout. If you have the money, space, and time it's a blast!

You also don't have to do a crazy frame off restoration either. I don't know if you are talking just surface rust, but if you use POR-15's three part system on the frame and tub; that should clear up all surface rust and protect you for the future. I have heard very very good reviews on POR, just be careful spraying it as it is beyond toxic.
