I am not a big fan of chrome. I like the style of the rims i just want them black didn't know if it was worth it to paint them, and if so what kind of paint should i use ?

I am interested in knowing people's thoughts on this too. I just got old school white American Racing rims (with the red and blue pin stripe!) that I want to paint black...and I am unsure of how to go about it. I have painted things before, but protecting it from rust is one thing, making it look nice is another.

Plasti-Dip is a great choice

Search You-tube for how-to videos on plst-dip and wheels

A guy just bedlined his chrome wheels the other day. Look for his thread. Looked pretty good imo. Would protect them better than plasti dip also. He used Dupont bed liner I think.

The best way to have the done and protected is by powdercoating them. In my area you can usually get 4 wheels done for about $250. If you want cheap and easy that will look good, but wont hold up to abuse try Plasti-Dip, its $7 a can and pretty easy to use. If you dont do alot of wheeling Plasti-Dip will give you the affect you want, and it will work on chrome. I've never dipped wheels on an offroad wheel but I have on my BMW. Or you can just rattle can them, and that would be like mid durable I guess. Just make sure you sand and clean everything real well first. You can make rattle can look nice also but its all in technique. Remember your no going to get full coverage with one coat and dont hold the can to close, you want about 8 to 12 inches of space between the can and the wheel.
