What's you're mpg

I am curious to see what people are getting in their rig. I have the tf level (spacer) and 33x12.50x15 duratracs. My 08 sahara is a 6sp man and I am getting roughly 20mpg. If I am driving around on base I get 19 on avg and doin 60-65 on the way to and from I get 20-21. I don't drive it like I stole it but I am never the slowest at the light lol :nonono:

TomL 04-13-2013 02:49 AM

I have a mostly stock '12 Rubicon, and my mpg varies depending on the time of year. Here in hilly Pittsburgh, I get around 14.5 in the winter and 15.6-18 in the summer. I wish my mpg was on par with the advertised values, but oh well! I'd rather have my top down and doors off with crappy mpg than have a boring 50 mpg Prius!

MudRunner 04-13-2013 02:54 AM

2011 JKU here with 3.73 gears, and heavy a$$ Toyo tires. Get 16 mpg on the highway at 75 mph, and 15 mpg around town.

kjeeper10 04-13-2013 04:18 AM

Mpg... What's this ? ;)

Old Dogger 04-13-2013 04:45 AM

16 in town and 19.5 on highway.

baytownbert 04-13-2013 06:41 AM

See my sig for the details. 14+ mpg

mike1158 04-13-2013 07:27 AM

2013 Sahara 2dr...auto 3.73s....stock (for now)
i've had it 11 days and my average seems to be about 20....

racer01 04-13-2013 07:44 AM

2013 Rubicon manual trans with 35" BFG KM, 3.5" AEV lift, bumper, etc. Stock 4.10 gears. Got ~17 mpg for the first few tanks when it was stock commuting to work.

With lift and tires I now get ~15 mpg for daily 10 mile commute on 2 lane country roads. First trip out of town yesterday to Charleston, SC and back (250 miles) and averaged 18.5 (via trip computer) on the way down and right at 18 mpg average for the trip. Kept it at 60-63 mph most of the way down in 6th gear at about 2k rpm) on 2 lanes, but had about 20 miles of 75-78 mph highway mixed in as well which really kills the mpg.

I have found short trips (like my commute) kill mpg and so does anything over 70 mph on the hwy. Cold starts really use a surprising amount of fuel.

Ali032373 04-13-2013 08:10 AM

Stock 2013 gets me 17.5. Got it over 20 once.

xjcj5jku 04-13-2013 08:22 AM

Stock '12 4 dr JKUR auto, 4.10's. 16 and change pretty much all situations... Unless I drive it like the Porsche I used to have then lower. :-)

GREEN-MACHINE 04-13-2013 08:28 AM

12.3 next question

Seeuoffroad 04-13-2013 08:41 AM

2012 JKU with 3" lift 35 Micky Thompson's 4.88 R&P ARB lockers chromoly axels. Digital read out says 15.2 but if I do it the old fashion way I get 17 city, highway mix.

You might want to rethink your thread title. But, if you're happy with it, that's all that matters.:)

jimbot 04-13-2013 11:05 AM

I got 20 on the last fill up. Anyone here have both hard and soft tops? I was wondering which gets better mileage. I took my freedom panels off for a weekend and it looks like I dropped about 2 mpg. What happens when you take the whole think off?

firehawk 04-13-2013 02:55 PM

25 mpgs +/- 1 mpg

:dance:hi, get about 25 mpgs not to bad with 3.21 auto 2 door with factory 17" goodyears, eco on and keep it at 60 mph..look forward to 8 speed auto.

runs great...no dings or dents yet!:wavey::wavey:

I would think around town no big deal but seems like on the highway ie 70-80mph your mpg would suffer due to the ugly aerodynamics.

BigManAndy 04-13-2013 03:04 PM

My work commute is just brutal for mileage. 2012 JK 2.5" lift and 33" Duratracs. I get 13-15 city and 19 highway.

GuytonJK13 04-13-2013 03:10 PM

stock tires, stock 3.73 gears according to the DIC...16.5 but i dont trust it because thats driving around town.

OffRoadCam09 04-13-2013 03:18 PM

I have 18 mpg on the computer right now, have 33x12.50's with 1.5" performance leveling kit an jcr stinger from bumper. Goin up to 35x12.50 an 2.5" lift though so I'm sure it'll be closer to 15 mpg

rirrgang 04-13-2013 04:18 PM

15-17 beep and creep. 20-21 freeways.

Rumba-con 04-18-2013 10:16 PM

Wow, there must be something wrong with mine. I have about 3400 miles on it. It's a 2013 stock Rubicon with a hard top and 3.73 gears. I've been getting about 13mpg city and for the last tank I filled up right before driving on the freeway for 100miles. The highest the gauge went was 14.8! I was probably driving 75 most of the way. I don't drive slowly, but I'm also not sticking my foot in it. I'm a little worried.

Anyone have any ideas?

Farnham21 04-18-2013 10:17 PM

Tire pressure. Check it in every tire and try to make them as close as possible.

Tweak 04-19-2013 01:22 AM

13JK auto, 3.21, 3.5in lift, 36" toyo OC's, currently getting 17mpg.

although that is with the hardtop on and without the 4 mounted 33's I currently have in the back. I got about 15.5 on the way home from work tonight.

I am sure the 4 37" Nitto Mud Grapplers I am installing tomorrow will knock it down a bit!

How's that thing drive? Especially with those gears

Y-Guy 04-19-2013 01:48 AM

Stock '11 Sahara 3.75, calculated MPG town 16.5 and highway 22.1-21.5, much better then my F150, may not be as good as a Prius but sure a lot more fun and better looking ride.

well I dont know about the mud grapplers yet, but with the toyo OC's it really isnt that bad. I dont know what everyone is complaining about. I can pass cars when I need to. When I get on it it is a slightly different feeling, kinda like it winds up and then lets go and I have to back off a bit. Its not my 350z, but Its not slow.

my buddy on the other hand, has 37" Toyo OC's on an 11 with 3.21's.....he doesnt even get to use 5th and 6th.

it gets me wondering, maybe I should get my build sheet. Who knows, maybe I will get a nice little surprise.

Lol wouldn't that be nice. I keep reading all these 35s on 3.21 threads and its like everyone has their own opinion and it sucks cause it makes it harder on me to decide lol if I didn't have as much highway driving I'd go for it but who knows.

I do a good bit of highway driving, but I'm not the kind of person to take my jeep to the dealership when it has a funny vibration or a piece of trim has a crack, you know what I mean? may not be that fun on road, but I have all the off road good times to think about and remind myself why I drive this thing.

I agree 100% but it Sucks in my case cause offroading is basically illegal in NY and I don't own land or know anyone who owns country land and the nearest park is like 150 miles away. I love the look of the offroad capable jeep and that's what I want but it just kills me if I seen it like that and was only able to take it through some puddles or up on a curb or snowpile.

I have a mostly stock '91 YJ with 2.5 engine with about 165000 miles on it and with a hard top. I have 31x10.5x15 Hankook AT tires ( I love these tires.) I've had it for a year and was averaging about 12 mpg. Recently took it to Reno for the first long road trip (a little over 500 miles round trip) and got about 15/16 mpg on the trip. Just filled up today and was surprised to see that I had gotten 18 mpg this week and had driven it the same way that I did when I was only getting 12 mpg. Gonna have to schedule a road trip at least once a year from now on.
