MUD Kings v. Maxxis Mudders?

Ok I know people have been asking about tires and all kinds of stuff lately but I need some advice......
I can't afford to spend $1000 on tires with a little one on the way. I did get a quote for 31x10.50 R15 maxxis mudders and Mud Kings. $688 for 5 mounted and balanced, here in town they have them in stock. Just curious what everyone thought?

are you talking buckshot mudders? i've heard good things about them...i don't know about mud kings as i just posted a thread asking about them :) ....i am also shopping...i dont know if your tire place has them but i have a discount tire in my city and they have durango mud terrains that have good tread wear and are agressive and only 119 a tire...and if you wanna read a review about them heres a link... http://endlessadventureoffroad.com/durango.html

I would shop the internet a bit... I only paid $175/tire when I got my 35x12.50 r15 MTRs. Most tire places will match any price that you can find on the internet. I would think that you can find a very reputable tire (BFG, Goodyear, etc.) for $100-$120 per tire somewhere. I would start with offroadtoystore.com, tirerack.com, and 4wheelparts.com as a starting point. As for the Mud Kings, I had a set on my first Jeep that came with it (almost bald) that seemed to have decent road manners and looked almost identical to my BFG Mud T/A that I got to replace them.

i would have to say that jeeperman might be wrong on the price match thing. Most shops wont price match tires off the internet. Here is the deal i got. I got 4 31-1050-15's with free shipping for 550.00 to my door. They are procomp mt's. I got them off ebay from a place called sportz trailers out of new mexico. They are a good company and have got 2 sets from them. Any shop should charge about 60.00 to mount and ballence them. There is a place here in San antonio that charges 10.00 a tire its called discount tire company. They are all over the country. Check your local area to find them or look them up on the internet. Here is a link to that sportz trailers place. and they have all brands of tires. these are some xterrains i found. Thay also have maxxis mudders. hope this helps

hey thanks I like that site and company they seem good. How are the Pro Comps? do you like them on the road? off-road? I like the price alot. The closest Discount Tire is about 100 miles from here

My procomp are great tires. I took my jeep offroad today. Nothing hard core but i kept it in 2wd the whole time with no worries. They are a little noisy on the highway but this is to be expected with mudders, you know this. They are a really go company and i got my tires within about 4 days. As far as going to that discount tire that is about 100 miles from you i wouldn't. With gas prices the way they are its not worth it. Any tire shop should put them on for you for about 50-60 bucks. Also if you call sportztrailers they will put a tire package together for you, i remember you said you needed 5 of them. This is just me but i would not go with some off brand tire when you can get something for less cash and alot better quality. I know some people run maxxis but how many do you see out there. Everyone i know wants procomps, bfg's, super swampers, etc. Alot of those stupid guys with lifted trucks and really big shinny wheels run maxxis but to each his own. You might have to wait a few days but its worth the wait trust me...

The last set of tires that I purchased from Discount Tire, I took them an internet price and they matched it for me... Not sure if they all do that, but I know that I REALLY like the guy that did it for me here...:D
