expanded metal grill. who has one??

Someone posted pics a while back of attaching expanded metal behind the grill with self tapping screws. I searched all over but can't find.

Anyone have pictures of this???

Thanks

Not sure if this is what you're talking about but it's made by Rugged Ridge. It is a heavy grate type of wire mesh that is black powder coated. It is pressed into a contoured shape that conforms to the grill openings. That makes for a nice fit but also makes it very stiff, which you would not get from just a flat screen placed across there. They're about $50 from RR and it's a easy do it yourself install.
It's worth it to me to keep that stray 70mph rock out on the highway from comming thru and hitting the radiator.

There are several brand name kits available as well as DIY things that people have done with parts from hardware stores, such as Home Depot. Here's my Metalcrafters grill insert.

I did this to my jeep and loved it. But, after 4 months, most of the connectors have come undone. I thoroughly cleaned using rubbing alcohol and i used gorilla tape over the connectors. I suppose when I re-do them, i use epoxy?

Any suggestions?

I took the tape off and used gorilla epoxy. I let it set overnight and then attached the zip ties and grill. I also cut the edges of the square pads down slightly so they would fit flush in between the grill openings. It seems really solid now. We'll see how it survives the Texas summer.

I don't know about using screws...

I did expanded metal in one piece. Attached it the same way as almost everyone else.

Scraped the tape off the back of the plastic loop connector things, wiped everything down with Brake Kleen, and glued on the loop things with Gorilla Glue. Some minor trimming around the edges to clear factory pinch seams and AC components were required for the one-piece. Relocated the temperature sensor back to clear the insert.

It's been on over a year without anything becoming unglued.

I used gold anodized expanded aluminum because I happened to have some, and I think it looks good with the Natural Green Pearl. The anodizing is holding up really well.

Pic in my profile.

There was a pretty detailed instructions thread about this a year or so ago.

Here's a photo of mine when finished. Each insert is a separate piece of metal held in by three screws/flat nuts.

I also included link to installation instructions so you can see it from the inside. http://www.grillcraft.com/installs/i...install_id=227

Another Rugged Ridge grill insert. $50 with shipping off amazon. Easy DIY install. You do have to drill 4 holes.
