Trails in central florida

Anyone know some trails in the Orlando area?

Jberg85 04-20-2013 06:44 AM

I have about 5 acres in the maitland area that is swampy if you'd like to come to it... I got about every other few days... Not much climbing but very muddy....

shooter525 04-29-2013 11:14 AM

Thank you for the offer!

Joshdouglassoffroad 05-02-2013 05:37 PM

I dont have a jeep but, cant find any other clubs here in orlando, im just looking for some cool people to hang with in my spare time and do a little off roading

Jberg85 05-03-2013 04:57 PM

What kinda off road rig you got?

Eclem 05-06-2013 08:18 AM

I cant find anywhere (legal) around here to go either! Everything I find says to go up to the Ocala National Forest but I just bought my first Jeep (JK Unlimited) this week so I'd like to take her somewhere local just to get her dirty once or twice before I go all the way up there.

WranglerJR83 05-06-2013 01:10 PM

I know there are some places out there to ride, but I always go with the Orlando jeep club and the mid-Florida jeep club while I'm in Ocala and Daytona. I would check out those clubs. They put on the jeep beach event and jeeptoberfest.

Just found a great area in Lake Mary. Get off at Lake Mary exit east. Turn left at stoplight by the Tilted Kilt into Primera. About a mile down the road (past 2 or 3 large gray office buildings) you'll see a road apron on the left that goes nowhere, go to the second road apron a few hundred yards down the road and where the asphailt apron stops, you'll see tracks into the woods. Go in and veer to the right, when u get to a warehouse parking lot take the dirt road veering left. Go up a culvert hill, you,ll be looking at I-4 and go either left or right there's fun stuff either way. lots of small hills to climb, sandy areas, trails and a big drainage basin to get muddied up in.
I just went yesterday and I'm going to post some pics on a thread later tonight.
Great fun, and beers at Tilted kilt afterwards.

Eclem 05-08-2013 07:38 PM

sounds like a great place! Looking forward to the pics and I'll have to go check that out soon. Thanks!

damndirtydog 05-08-2013 08:40 PM

Going there again next Wednesday with a buddy if you're interested.
We were going to do Ocala, but this is more fun.

Eclem 05-09-2013 10:19 PM

Wish I could. I work all day Wednesdays but I'm always off on Fridays and Saturdays. Thinking of heading up to Ocala tomorrow actually so I can finally see what all the hype is about.

Eclem 05-10-2013 09:08 AM

Scrap Ocala for today. I'm going to save some gas and check out your place instead. Will post pics when I get back! If any body else wants to head out there let me know. In case I get stuck the peace of mind from having someone else there would be nice.

Great spot to go!

I took my fiance and her cousin out to your spot in Lake Mary to check it out today. We were having a great time for about 20 minutes until I bottomed out on a sand dune and had to call for a quick tow:facepalm:. Got out no troubles and enjoyed some more time before heading out. The guy who came to tow me out got himself stuck in about 18 inches of water/mud so I had to repay the favor.

This was a very fun spot withOUT "No Trespassing" signs and is clearly well used by ORVs. I'll definitely be back once I get her lifted! (probably before then a few times too)

damndirtydog 05-10-2013 04:48 PM

Lol way too funny. Check out my thread on fl forum, "wheeling in lake Mary."
I posted some pics. Our mud hole pics look identical. Had to pull my knucklehead buddy out of the same spot.

Deja' Vu!!

damoutdoors 08-03-2013 11:09 AM

How about across the State? Citrus WMA is right here. Are there any clubs around?

I didn't know about that Lake Mary location. Will definitely check it out. Spent yesterday in Ocala national Forrest. Had a great time! Will be on the lookout of other trails in the CF area. ONF is just so close to me, I haven't ventured out to far from that.

Yep. Four hours of sun and we were fried. Pulled off to cover up and give the dogs a break.

Fun day - first time in the area.

damndirtydog 08-05-2013 07:49 PM

How were the bugs out there? Friggin deer flies will take chunks out of you in the summer or try to fly up any open orafice. Any big mud holes after all the daily rain.

Yeah the bugs were bad but I knew what to expect. What annoyed me the most is my favorite spot was overgrown and full of ticks. Can't wait for winter.

Lol. That's what I thought.
Might make a morning run over to the place in Sanford Lake Mary on Friday instead of Ocala. It's kind of in the middle of town so probably not so buggy.
Thanks for the info.

if you know somebody who owns land you can get in suburban estates in halopaow off of 192. best muddy trails i know of in central FL some good spots to climb, also if you go all the way to the east coast in the Port st. john area theres a spot called the canaveral groves that is about as muddy as it gets, like monster truck swallowing black abyss holes.

Just bought my first jeep (2009 Sport). It's a completely stock daily driver as of now but I live up in Altamonte Springs and would love to take it off road sometime. I'm a little nervous--a healthy fear--to take it off road on my own, so if somebody wanted to ride with/teach a newbie, I'd be glad to treat to beers afterwards! My buddy has a Rubicon that he takes off road all the time but I haven't had a chance to meet up with him yet. I'm loving it so far but can't wait for the rain to stop and the humidity to be less than a level you can swim through so I can take the doors off and the top off more often.
