General Grabber Review

So this is going to be updated somewhat frequently.
I just bought a pair of 33/12.5/15 General Grabber Red Letter, I got them because i was really interested in the tread pattern and how well it would do on, and off of the road. So far Ive driven them about 100 miles and i gotta say, they make a little bit of noise! I was used to my buddies 35" Nitto Mud Grapplers. I would say that these make around 1/2 of the noise those do! They have a smooth ride and are very tame on the streets. So far I give them a 9.5/10 and i have never found a perfect tire. These are my favorites so far! Tomorrow is the off road test!
I forgot to mention, Im not one of those guys who got them because they have RED LETTERS:facepalm:

I am stuck between these and the AT2's. I am kind of worried about how the Grabber will do in the rain. Post some pictures! Subscribed.

Just got these in 33/10.5/15 from tirebuyer.net for $760 shipped. Plus they have a $50 rebate and I ordered thru fatwallet.com for another $40 back. Haven't had a chance to wheel with them, but they are quiet on the road. I had treadwright 31's on it for 4 years previously.

i was on the bandwagon and liked em bcuz of their red letters. I was gonna pair em up with ballistic jesters w/ red accents to make em pop. I went with a different route. Still these tires for their looks alone are just too tempting.

OP, how did they perform offroad?

BrandonsJeep 04-24-2013 12:40 AM

So today I decided to see how she did in the mud and rain.
First off, rain:
They have (in my opinion) better grip in the rain on the road than Goodyear Wrangler and Nitto Mud Grapplers! I didnt lose traction once under regular driving, i only got them to spin *A LITTLE* when i revved it to 2500 and dropped the clutch. they spun for about 1 second and then got traction again! 10/10 in the rain!

Now time for the mud.
I have a nice little mud hole near me that is about 2 feet deep at the bottom, but it is really really soft at the bottom. I went theough first in 2WD and had no problem flying through. I tried again just crawling through and they did get caked up, but they cleaned out the second I hit the gas, and they pulled me right out. In 4WD I had no problems whatsoever! And in 4Lo I just idled right through. In the mud id give them a 8.5-9/10, they are great but they cake up easily if you dont spin them to clean them.

I AM EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH THESE TIRES!
Oh, and i can crawl up really steep inclines and over some rocks with almost no effort, I love these tires! Also, I get compliments left and right from other Jeepers around town all the time on them!

That's what I was waiting to hear. Noise level remain the same at highway speeds?

They are relatively quiet as compared to similarly priced tires (ie mud graps, trail graps, BFG ATs, and KM2s)

Crosseyed Cricket 04-24-2013 07:38 AM

Yeah, I'm coming off Trail Grapplers which got pretty loud at highway speeds.

Thanks for the review man!

BrandonsJeep 04-24-2013 07:39 AM

I would be posting a ton of pictures, but sadly i dropped my camera in the mud...:(

How much air pressure you running in yours? I've got 28lbs in mine, think I might go a little lower.

On road or off road..
On road i use 44
Off road i use 16-18, but then again i crawl around trails and some soupy mud. Its all a matter of preference!

Dont know yet, ive had it in some mud/ clay that wasnt terribly deep and it did just fine. They work great in the dirt and gravel roads. If your looking for something to pull you through thick mud then your gonna need boggers or something similar.

Sawyerballer98 06-05-2013 12:18 AM

That's what I figured but Its a dd so I don't really want to drive around on boggers

Mines a dd also. I like them alot. Not too loud, good road manners and they do hook up well in the dirt and softer stuff. They are a trophy truck tire so thats what they are designed to do. Little heavy but i like to think of that as added traction
