Dual Exhaust question

Ok so my girlfriend is getting me a Thrush Glasspack exhaust for christmas. Im thinking about buying another and splitting my exhaust after the cat so I have a dual exhaust. Comments? ideas? will this work or will it flow too much and not "scavenge"? I havent done much exhaust work so im not sure of all the implications. Btw I have a 4 banger

if you have enough room and money you can do anything! i think the room might be an issue though. there would be no problems with scavanging though

sweet! I have a welder, sawzall, cutting torch, and an angle grinder. room will not be a problem

You plan on dumping or running tail pipes?

tn-yj 12-03-2008 01:15 PM

dumping? not familiar with the term but like I said never done alot wih exhaust. I assume it just means straight out of the mufflers right? Idk. maybe go wih the pipes

Yes dumping mean no tail pipes just a muffler. I ran dual exhaust for a while "dumped" and a few months with tail pipes. It does let a lot of exhaust fumes into the jeep if you run dumped. If you do run pipes out the back you'll have to run it out the sides behind the tires because there isn't room on the driver side for a pipe next to the tank like there is on the passenger side. I'm now running both manifolds into a single 3" with a flowmaster muffler out the stock location and still sounds good. Thrush glass packs...are those the same size as cherry bombs or ???

Im looking at a 25"
Here is a video

Sorry. I meant the shape not the length. Your running a 4 cyl right. I've not heard any good comments about the sound of a glass pack on a 4 cyl. Was that video on a 4 or 6 cyl. Too much sound distortion in that video to tell how it sounds under power.

Its a 6 in the video. Um as far as I know they are the same shape and everything. I wonder if I went with a shorter length if it would sound better with my engine

Experiment and find out. The majority of comments I've read when glass pack and Jeep 4 cylinder were in the same sentence all had one major theme and they all referred to a certain long grain asian dish that goes well with chow mein.

Its all personal preference so if you like it go for it. I've not heard one yet so if you do it; video tape it, shove it on youtube, and post it here.
