Deleting Evap system
 
I have the p0455 code evap large leak
I have emissions soon and with a rusty evap line running the length of the car, I feel like ripping the whole system out. I like things being more.... simple. Less that can go wrong.
What value resistors must I solder in what locations to make this thing throw no codes. Or what resistor can I at least use to make the p0455 go away?

It's not trivial to bypass the evap system. There are multiple checks. It pulls vacuum, closes the valve, and looks for a leaks by monitoring the pressure. It's very sensitive and can pick up leaks similar to 1psi / hr. When it opens the valve it must see a change in the fuel trims that indicates that its burning the fuel vapors. If you have smog to deal with, your best bet is to fix the system. You can run a new tube to the back if that is the issue. Check your gas cap too. Smog law are serious. No company will make a delete kit. Edge performance got fined $500K for making DPFE delete kits for diesel trucks. Individual fines can be $10K and shop fines can be $50K+.

instead of spending money on kits or removing evap which as jgorm said is a waste of time and no company makes, why not spend 100 bucks on getting 1hr diag from a dealership, just because the line is rusty doesn't mean its the problem, it could be as simple as a control valve, or a gas cap that is leaking, as a mechanic i spend lots of time diagnosing evap leaks....id recommend spending 100 on getting it checked it before doing anything drastic

Did you physically see a spot on the rusty line that is opened? Have you checked the hoses at the purge valve? They are notorious for cracking a cause these Evap codes. And they are really simple to replace.

I've spent time checking over most of the hoses. It gets quite rusty where you can see it by taking out the drivers side drain plug for the bench seat. I was also thinking of plugging the check feed so that it "thinks" its holding pressure. Idk. I delete nearly everything on my cars so that when something goes wrong, its something serious. That's coming from the 1,000hp modular ford I just made a coffee table out of. Sigh....

That wont work, its a dynamic system. sucks on the mod motor. 1000hp is damn good on any mod motor, especially if its a 2 or 3v!

Its a 3v. 2v motors are just.... dinosaurs.
Ill try to find a way to cheaply run the line. Just the level of rust alone screams that it is guilty.
