P285 or LT285 Toyo AT2s

I'm looking at Toyo AT2s... I see they offer a P285/70r17 as well as a LT285/70r17. The Ps are way cheaper and way lighter. The LTs are E-rated 10ply, which seems like overkill for a 2dr Wrangler.

So, are the Ps ok for off-roading? Anyone have experience with either?

I went with the P285/70/17. Depending on what kind of offroading, rock crawling...then i wouldn't recommend. dd, sand, dune, and fire roads, then it would fit your needs. Be advised, that these tires just came out late last year so there's not much review on them regarding their strength and durability offroad-wise.

Hello tire experts,

Is the strength of the sidewall the only difference between LT tires and P tires? Or are there other differences too?

^LT has more load, a higher inflation rate, and more stiffer than the P. Aesthetically there is no difference.

the LT version has deeper tread to begin with 16/32 vs 13/32 and the white letter version is only a couple of pounds heavier then the P version. I went with the LT version and mounted them white letters in. My E rated are very smooth and not rough riding. I feel better having a tougher tire carcus.
