MiLlEr JeEp TrAiL RuN **May 3rd Weekend!

Hi!! :wavey: This is a special run for a couple reasons. We're going to be camped at my special place and it's the first run of the season. It's breathtakingly gorgeous where we camp. The road to camp is a dirt road. RV friendly. My friends have been taking their RV's for years. Nothing but big tall gorgeous trees surrounding us Everywhere!

Date: Friday May 3rd-5th
Camp location: Top of the mountain

It's Miller time!!! :action-smiley:

***3 options on meeting places***

Option 1-

Friday-May 3rd-Meet at the Flying J off Interstate 5 at 4:15pm. From there, I'll take us to camp.
Address for the Flying J: 42810 Frazier Mountain Park Rd, I-5 Frazier Park Exit 205, Frazier Park, CA 93243

Option 2-

Friday- meet at the ranger station off Lockwood Valley Road.
Address: 34580 Lockwood Valley Rd. Frazier Park, CA 93225
From there, I'll take you to camp. ***Depending on how many people want this option, and we get a little closer, I'll decide on a time.***
I'm thinking somewhere around 7-8pm.

Option 3-

Meet us at the trail head of Lockwood/Miller on Saturday morning at 1030am.

(I realize options 1 and 2 aren't the easiest way to go, but if you're wanting to camp with us, it's worth it. :) You own a Jeep, put your Adventure hat on!! :D

Direction Details to Miller's trailhead:

This trail is southwest of Fraizer Park, west of Hungry Valley. The Flying J is right off Interstate 5 North at Fraizer Park. Get gas there if you need it. From there, it's around 7 miles to Lake-of-the-Woods. Turn left on Lockood Valley Road. There's a little market there on the corner that makes the BEST sandwiches and potatoe salad :) I know Nothing about coords; but if you're meeting us at the trailhead Saturday, the GPS Waypoint Coordinates are:

Latitude North: 34 44 07.3
Longitude West: 119 02 16.4

Make sense to you? (I really need to get a GPS)

Run Details:

Saturday :action-smiley:

Be at the trailhead by 1030am. Run Lockwood/Miller. :action-smiley: I'm so excited!! Can ya tell :rofl2: After we are done running Lockwood and Miller, we will be at the top of Alamo Mountain. It takes around 40 minutes or so to come back down the mountain which puts us in Hungry Valley.

Sunday

It's Gorgeous where we're camped. Trails 118/119 are right there. We can always putt around the mountain..there's deer and other 4 legged friends out there :thumb:

Difficulty

Miller is rated Black Diamond. I've brought many stock rigs through Miller with no problems. I do recommend you have sliders. There are a few rocky areas and steep switchbacks. There's also some flat trail riding.

PLEASE POST WHEN YOU PLAN ON COMING AND WHICH OPTION YOU PLAN ON USING TO MEET ME. If you're planning on option #2 at the Ranger station Friday evening, post a good time for you. Based on the feedback from that, we'll decide on a time.

iwaxmyjimmy 04-22-2013 12:55 PM

So the Friday I'm running an M4 range so it should be at 1700 quiting time kinda day but I've got that weekend off for sure. So if I can figure out how to get to the camping spot it would be great. Lol

RadarRob2012 04-22-2013 12:59 PM

Nope, not gonna make this one. Working. But you left out option 4. Meeting at Sky Ranch. Lol. Have Fun.

You can call me and I can explain it to you..it's about 8,000 feet up on top of a mountain. From the ranger station, it's 20 minutes up a dirt road. Call me when you can before you leave. There's no cell reception once there.

It's not somewhere I want posted on the internet. It's special because not a lot of people know about it. I'd like to keep it that way. ;)

Some of my friends are responsible for the trail. They pre-ran her this weekend; moved trees etc. Rangers said May 1st.

BeantownR6 04-22-2013 05:40 PM

Cool! :thumb: As Calico gets too hot for most of my friends, and BB is an extra expense as far as camping costs goes, I run Miller often. Plus, it's Way closer for me. The 3.5 hour drives 1 way get old year round. May try for a BB weekend in July.

solvang100 04-22-2013 05:51 PM

Lynda and I will try to make this one since we have missed the last few. We will be an Option 3. Hope to see you then:dance:

That_Titan_Guy 04-22-2013 09:53 PM

I should be in for this, we were discussing whether or not the T could make it and i think everyone gave the thumbs up. Not worried about rocks and what not just the tight switchbacks and narrow trails that i could fall off of.

You are taking a risk..can you do it? Probably..but how bad do you want to possibly beat it up? You may not get through completely unscathed. And you will be looking at a few 10 point turns..maybe you want to ride with someone this first time to take a look? Judge from there?

I've never heard that before...I seriously laughed for a good 5 minutes lol.

I see a golden opportunity here: I really want to make this trip, but I'm lacking the gas money...I'm totally down to go halfsies on gas!

After what I laid out today at the shop, I'd be down to split gas..but you have to ride with me LOL
