Guns!

any shooters out there?

I dont competition shooting in the summer. . I just upped myself from a 40cal to a 45. Decided to spend the dollar on a 1911.. . i gotta practice ;)

G.A. Heath 04-22-2013 10:42 PM

What brand/model did you up yourself to?

FrankTheTank92 04-22-2013 10:49 PM

Don't competitive shoot. But skeet shoot with my Remington 870 12 gauge with an assault stock. Shooting range with Smith & Wesson 357 shoot 38 specials than 357 mags when I want a kick back.

Senior Chief 04-23-2013 07:34 AM

I belong to a local range and try to shoot a couple of times a month:

Springfield XD

Springfield "Loaded" edition M1911 45

Ruger MK III

Malebolgia 04-23-2013 08:01 AM

I only compete with friends for the right to give one another crap. I usually win at long range (75+yds) but it is a toss up on the pistol range.

sevenservices 04-23-2013 08:16 AM

Nice! You'll get used to the .45 for sure, just give it some time on the range or the back 40. ;)

Vroooom 04-23-2013 09:13 AM

Springfield "Loaded" and Glock 20

Wife has a Desert Eagle 1911G....yeah I thought it was corny too.....but it is actually a very nice piece.....all the performance of my "loaded" at half the price. Kinda pisses me off.

Duckquackers 04-23-2013 09:17 AM

Just picked up my new C&C for my birthday and got a XDs 45, thus far I am in love.

whodie63 04-23-2013 02:34 PM

any one shoot long range ?

Senior Chief 04-23-2013 02:55 PM

At my age 50 yards IS long range .....

Seriously, there's only one decent rifle range close by. Seldom go

whodie63 04-23-2013 03:22 PM

hahah i heard ya , i have pushed out to 800 yards ran out of room .. i think i could go out to a 1000 with my 308 !!

TJgunner 04-23-2013 03:55 PM

I picked up a Taurus PT1911. It's not the best one on the market, but it is for my price range. . . wasn't about to drop 1k+ on a kimber

Nothing wrong with that. I found the Springfield Loaded to be a good approximation of a Kimber, for a lot less

You're a sniper compared to me. My only rifle is a Bushmaster with a red dot for an optic. Not good out past 200 meters

Tweak 04-23-2013 05:18 PM

I'm jealous whodie, nothing like building a $5000 rifle and moving to Texas where the longest range is 100yds...

at any gun store! its a remington 700 in a MDT Tac-21 chassis, timney trigger, 6.5 creedmoor chambered 28" Krieger SS medium Palma barrel, magpul PRS buttstock, Vortex Viper PST 24x FFP Mil-Mil, Badger Rings, 20 MOA base, custom gunkoting, AAC brake, and I pick up the AAC-SDN6 7.62 suppressor mid June!

Michael Shumaker in Stephenville, Tx did the gunsmithing, I highly suggest visiting him, he specializes in 1911s.

This was my moneypit before I bought the Jeep.

Barmanvarn 04-23-2013 07:47 PM

I do some local IDPA and IDPA styled matches when time permits. Glock 23 running a lone wolf 9mm match barrel. And I love speed steel when I get the chance.

Just started reloading as well.

Very nice, now I can see the R700 hiding in there.

the nice thing about a 1911 is you can build upon it, much like you would a jeep.
both mine have recived a tweak or two in order to fine tune them a little more. Just be prepared to be broke all the time. once you start, you wont want to stop

Jared66 04-24-2013 08:20 AM

I finally got around to gettin my fire arms license. Lookin to get a good long range rifle ( for marksmen shooting). A then a good deer rifle( thinkin maybe a 7mm?). And a good AR., and a good handgun. And a shotty obviously lol. Gotta cover all the bases. Just starting my research. Anyone wanna point me in the right direction? What brands are good n what to stay away from ?

Duckquackers 04-24-2013 08:57 AM

I just took out and sighted my Browning BAR 308 yesterday in preperation for some hog killing this weekend. Waiting on Remington to send back my R25 that they have had since October 2012 and then my family will be back together.
