Great gas milage! Shh!

My wife is telling everyone that I bought a jeep to get good gas milage.lol. I'm not telling her anything! FYI, my other car is a Chevy crew cab dually 8.1 gasser. Guess she's right! Ha ha!

Haha that is awesome. I had a ranger pickup I traded for the jeep and the jeep feels like it gets far better mileage than the ranger did. It was a v6 and got around 14 mpg. It was terrible. I need to calculate it to make sure I'm not confusing smiles for miles. ;)

Imagine the gas milage of my 496ci engine. Though that truck serves a purpose. Towing my 40 foot fifth wheel, the jeep ain't got time for that!

My jeep is currently waiting for a new windshield..... So I got a Ram 5.7 hemi on loan, it's more like gallons per mile than miles per gallon. Can't wait to get my Jeep back. She'll run all week on $50 bucks, I got two days out of the Ram on that..... :nonono:

Yowza! What year is the RAM??? 06+ have MDS and I was getting close to 17 average city/hwy; over 20 on the highway.

My TJ definitely is my worst on fuel, even with the 6.2L Denali; most driving is 40 miles of highway to and from work and the truck gets close to 20 consistent MPG on the hwy; the jeep? Not so much... she gets the back roads to work on the nice days. :thumb:

2012 Laramie I believe.
You can almost see the dollars rolling out your pocket as you accelerate........ I dare say if I owned a Ram, it would had vice grips pinching the fuel line :D

'Tis a well known thing that Wranglers are not purchased for their miserly fuel usage. Sure, when you first bring a new one home with its stock tires and seriously lean running engine, she'll squeak out better gas mileage at that point than she will once the right tires and wheels are added and some neccessary additions are made that increase the weight.

I'm happy driving the 30 miles round trip each day to work and back on one tank and then filling her up for the weekend!

Smiles for miles? Where is the confusion?!? ;)

I heard someone BS'ing that he was getting in the mid 20's. I started to go over and ask him if he would let me in on his secret. But I let him live in his dream.

At this point I can't imagine not driving it all the time. I've got a V8 lincoln ls, that doesn't get very good gas mileage either (probably because of the way I drive it >.>) so of the two I'd drive the Jeep and just stop at all the gas stations.

Damnnnnnn..... the only truck I'd take in lieu of the denali pickups! I love Dodge.

Dude those pickups have best in class MPG, I have a friend who works with me who has a Laramie Long Horn that's averaging 18.6! AVERAGING! That's calculated off the receipts! Yowza! In the defense of reality, he's 95% highway, lives close to it, and work is close to it. You must have a serious right foot in that Laramie though; I think MDS doesn't kick in over 80 (where my truck sits at most of the time getting 17+ :thumb:)

I can definitely say that his truck beat every jeep I've had including the 4 Liberties (05, 07, 08, 12.....company cars) I had in MPG! I don't know, maybe I'm not a hypermiler; even my stock mileage in TJs never got above 16.

I've been as careful as can be, used cruise to get the "eco" mode, still drinks like fuel is going out of fashion. Nice truck indeed though. I'll chuck a pic up at lunch :D

Speedyrev:

And the jeep with 24 mpg by the way, it's been like that since I got it. I don't know why or how, it just does. And I've triple checked the figures. It does fluctuate, but the last fill and run I got it to 24.odd. The lowest I've had is about 19, which is about normal. But 7 times out of ten when I run the figures it's between 21-24.
I'm not complaining. I just give her what she needs, oil, fuel, service and she just does what she does.....

ChaddG 04-24-2013 08:34 AM

The best gas mileage I have seen recently, 16 mpg with my 2001 tj.
destination at tires 30" and a K&n air filter stock replacement.
This was after a spark plug change and spark rail replacement.

mostly highway.

I get 20 Avg and have seen 21 on a long road trip in my 04 Rubicon with 33" tires and 4.10 gears. It has a throttle spacer and Banks CAI and muffler. I get asked all the time how the hell I get that type MPG!
