I removed the bulky plastic piece, then drilled my plate to match the stock mounting holes from the plastic piece. Worked well and much cleaner looking. I have not messed with plate light for it though....yet. Thinking those led bolt lights.

R and P carriages on ebay, great seller, they combined shipping for the lights, harnesses & side marker led's, and even gave me a few extra harnesses. :wavey:

Now that I look at their pics, looks like they stick out about 3/4", more than I said above sorry. Still so much cleaner than the stock bulky ones, and very bright. Nobody tailgates when i brake or signal anymore.

Enemy 04-24-2013 11:16 AM

No backup lights, don't really have a need for them.

They are the easiest ones I found to install. I hate doing electrical - even easy stuff - so I paid the extra. The wiring on the lights mates up to the stock wiring really easily and ORO will send you the LED flasher relay if you need it. Don't have to cut tub. Don't have to relocate the evap canister, just have to work around it. It's a little bit tight getting in back by the evap canister but not all that bad.
The other good thing about them is that they're legal. They have a side flasher and reverse lights which are both req'd if you're on the road where I am.

mikemounlio 04-24-2013 12:33 PM

I have an 03 will i have to move the evap? If so where have you guys moved your evap to and what all is involved in that step?

It's Genright BUT...
If you go with the stinger carrier go with SWING AWAY not swing down. Drop down is a pita. Every time you want in the back you have to swing it down. Every time you want to drop the top you have to swing it down. Want to put the top back up? Swing it down. You swing it down and you're stepping all around the damn thing.

I used surface mount LED's. I cut a circle out of 1/4" aluminum plate and bolted it to the tub using the factory tail light holes, then drilled and tapped the aluminum to attach the tail lights. I added the LED "backup" lights. They're a little brighter than the factory backups, but I mainly put them on there as indicators, you know, so people wil know I'm backing up in parking lots and such. I have actual functional 55w halogen backup lights under the bumper.

I love the red ring effect on the 3rd brake light/spare tire.

I have ORO's 6" round LEDs, they look a lot better than the stock tail lights. But these things have been nothing but problems for me. Last time i checked LEDs are not supposed to go out a month after buying them. Their really spotty. Everytime i start my Jeep, at least 10-20 LEDs are out or blinking on and off on each tail light.
I have Poison Spyder's 6" round LEDs (what you see on the back of UPS trucks) in a box. Just haven't had the time to install them yet.
-Just a note, my ORO's are there first generation LEDs
