I am going to be putting together a hand full of runs each spring and fall.

We just went to Crown King. All day. Pics on the forum.

Going to be putting together a Back way to Strawberry run soon. Half day.

Daswrangler 04-25-2013 04:57 PM

Definitely keep us posted. I'm well over due for a run

HSKR4X4 04-30-2013 03:12 AM

We are doing Sunflower Mines Thursday night. Meeting at McDonald's at 8pm in Fountain Hills

Daswrangler 04-30-2013 06:21 PM

Anyone have any beginner runs planned this weekend?

sittingduck331 04-30-2013 11:18 PM

I would put together a beginner run this weekend if we can get enough interest in it...

What do you have in mind Das?

8PM to when sir?

clull05rubi 04-30-2013 11:43 PM

I wouldnt count on sunflower mine its supposed to be open wednesday the 1st but one of the guys from azvjc went to check it out and the bridge is impassable and the first obstacle is going to require heavily modified jeeps. They had a big run going for opening day but got cancled due to trail conditions and the bridge being impassable by vehicle. Check out face book for pics

HSKR4X4 05-01-2013 01:17 AM

Ya I saw post on VJC too. Looks like the run is most likely getting changed to Table Mesa

Daswrangler 05-01-2013 11:57 AM

I'm originally from northern Arizona and have only need up to crown king a few times so I don't know any real trails around the valley. I want to see what my stock jeep can do out here

Redneck-yj 05-02-2013 04:44 AM

Lets do table Mesa on saturday

sittingduck331 05-02-2013 10:45 AM

I am up for a Table Mesa run in the late afternoon :9lame:.

In the AM I am changing a AC system in a Mazda 3 :banghead: .

BacaraJKU 05-02-2013 11:25 PM

I would also be interested in a beginner run. Would be my first time and since I just picked the jeep up its sitting on bone stock suspension and tires. Don't plan to lift right now, but picking up some DuraTracs hopefully pretty soon. I have no plans to hit trails where I'm risking any damage at this point since its my DD.

I won't be around this weekend, but a future run would be good. I was reading the crown king thread and that looks like a blast. Can bypass the rough stuff if I wanted.

sittingduck331 05-03-2013 09:14 AM

Ok, lets do a beginner run the weekend of May 18th or the 25th.

Chime in on what you want do to and we will narrow it down to a good trail...

Ill bring the recovery equipment. :thumb:

What you will need.

4x4
Good tires AND a spare
Lots of water
Sun screen
Camera
Dress appropriately
Snacks (if all day, pack lunch)
Ok with getting dirty
Patience as we are moving as a group and some will be learning.
Bring a friend, spouse, dog.

/quack

I'm in!

8008135 05-03-2013 06:04 PM

We are in too. I will check with Scot too. We need more wheel time before we head up to Moab!

We did Broken Arrow last weekend. Was good times...

We need to pick a general location to head to.

Table Mesa is close and has some easy trails for stock Jeeps. I know one little wash that is a great couple hour run.

Daswrangler 05-03-2013 11:41 PM

Is anyone interested in a run on Sunday? I would like to get a little mud on the tires this weekend l.

AverageJK 05-07-2013 10:14 PM

I would probably be in for something on the 18th. I'm stock now though. I've done bulldog canyon, box canyon and back road to crown king so far. If its a beginner course make sure everyone has permits if you go somewhere that requires it.

BacaraJKU 05-07-2013 10:39 PM

Got kids this weekend, but I would be down. The weekend of the 18th I'm heading out of town for a family thing. Following weekend is Memorial Day weekend and we are heading to Golfo de Santa Clara (El Golfo) Mexico to go have some fun on the beach and dunes. Lots of offroading fun with the Jeep and our RZR's.

Keep in mind I'm bone stock sport so no rock crawling or trails where I'm gonna risk damage at this point.

Lil_town 05-10-2013 01:50 AM

anyone planning anything near wickenburg?

I was reading up on What to do in Az - Experience AZ 4WD Adventures and wanted to try Hassayampa Canyon since it looks fairly easy, has some water normally and cool views. This is what I'm looking at doing for my first offroad experience.

Lil_town 05-11-2013 12:16 AM

It's nice i'm actually heading out there tomorrow morning with some friends of mine. i'll let you know how it is.

I was gonna head out in a few, let me know if you catch this before you go.

Lil_town 05-11-2013 07:32 PM

Yeah sorry, we left early in the morning, there are some nice pools to go through, nothing I needed 4 wheel drive for.

sittingduck331 05-13-2013 08:50 AM

ok, sorry for the absence. Mom had her second stroke...

I would still like to do a family trip up in Sedona this weekend...

Possibly Blue Monster and then Soldiers Pass...

You will need a Red Rock pass ($20.00) good for the year or ($5.00) for the day... I will track down the closest location.

Coconino National Forest Passes for Red Rock on myscenicdrives.com

Blue Monster is a Moderate run, 8.2 miles. 1.5 to 2 hours. Will get there via I17 exit 287 head Northwest on 260 to Cherry Hill RD.

https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=3...sz=16&t=m&z=16

Then lunch and head off to Soldiers Pass.

Soldiers Pass is a Difficult run, 2.5 miles. About 1 hour. Get there Via 179 in Sedona, head west on the 89A...

https://maps.google.com/maps?q=34.88...num=1&t=h&z=18

Leave from gas station in Anthem located on the west side off of Anthem Way between 8:30 to 9:00 am.

https://maps.google.com/maps?q=3552+...ona+85086&z=17

I am taking my family ages 5, 4, 2.

I am sure I am missing something, let me know...

BacaraJKU 05-13-2013 09:02 AM

Ahhh, wish I didn't have to head out of town this weekend. Would be an awesome run. Looked at Soldiers pass, probably the only part I would struggle is on Devils Kitchen. Please, plan something again like this. Would love to do the family trip thing when I can.

Edit: btw, hope mom is doing better.

Daswrangler 05-13-2013 11:18 AM

Saturday or Sunday? Also, would a stock Tj make it?

sittingduck331 05-13-2013 11:29 AM

Reading experience-az it looks like you are fine, but Devils Kitchen has some steps. They didn't look too hard.

AverageJK 05-13-2013 07:50 PM

I'm in for this. I'll have to pick up a red rock pass once in Sedona though.
