How to extend bumpstops

Looking for an easy way to extend the factory bump stops on my lift. I just put on a 2.5" RC lift and 32" tires.

Bhsanchez,

There are a number of ways to adjust your bump stop length. Most companies that make a aftermarket suspension kits sell Bumpstop Extensions. For your lift kit, you'll want to measure for the new bumps.

To determine the length of added bumpstop, flex your jeep to the point where the compressed sides are where you want them to stop. With your jeep flexed, use a tape measure or ruler, and measure the distance between the stock (or existing aftermarket) bumpstops and the areas on the axles that the bumpstops would hit under stock circumstances. The areas the bumpstops should hit would be the axle tube to the inside of the leaf spring perch in the rear and inside the coil spring on the spring perch in the front. Once you have the measurements, add 1" to those measurements to factor in compression of the bumpstops.

Hope this helps! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Zone Bump Stop Extensions

You can make a spacer in the length you need. i have spacers that are made from aluminum and are 2" X 2" with a 7/16" through hole in the center.

Your spacer will go between the mounting spot and the base of your bump stop cup. Your (new and longer bolt) will go through the bump stop cup through the spacer and into the orginal mounting location. Then you can reuse your stock bump stop.

I noticed that the zone bump stop extensions come in pairs, so are they are only for the front or do you just have to buy 2 sets. I guess I have to see if I need them for the rear too.

Since I have a Rough Country lift I wanted to get there bump stop extensions, but I can only find rear bump stop extensions. Why not extensions for the front?
