Bikini/Topless Run Sunday 4/28/13 Yankee Hill

Sunday is supposed to be 75 degrees so in honor of the arrival of our Colorado spring and bikini weather, lets get our girls out with their bikini's on or if you dare .... topless ;)

I doubt that trail will be open. I ran up there the "shortcut" from Fall Rivers Road to Mine Rd where it turns into the trail to the top of Yankee Hill and I didn't make it 5 feet before backing down and this was 2 snow storms ago.

If I remember right, Chad did a recon run last weekend and said the ice shelfs and snow drifts turned him back....think we still have some waiting for this trail, and it's my favorite one so far

You'll be posting pics, right Cory?

I was with Chad and LadyTJ (sorry, I forgot your name!) on the "recon" run last weekend. I think that there is a decent chance we can get further than last weekend, assuming the melt continues until then. There was a pretty bad ice shelf that Chad fell into that stopped us last time - that should be gone if this warm weather continues.

Yankee Hill is right down the road from me - I could always scout it out on Friday or Saturday and post up my findings here. If it's doable, I will probably be game.

I wish I could join but I look forward to hearing the trail conditions. That's my "staple" trail since it's close to Denver I've run it probably 15x. I can't wait to get up there this season!

Hey guys, went to run it after work tonight. I started from the west to east side Fallsriver Rd. to Mine Rd which turns into 175.1 which goes up the hill. I made it 20 feet up. I went back down to take Cuberland Gulch up. Same result. I think west to east will be fine but there is a ton of snow up there. I'm working on pics now.

I left Denver it was 68 when I got to 10k on Fallsriver Rd it was 41.

Yep tried Cumberland last week too and there was definantly more snow on that side. figured that would be still undoable. but when we went to Yankee hill there was some traveling and the road was decent on most of what we ran and it sits in the sun a little better. I still think with the good weather we have had as of late that Yankee should be doable for the most part.

nvmytj 04-27-2013 12:00 PM

It's hard to tell from the photo.

Any guestimate on the snow depth? Chains and topless sounds a little out there.

Johnwbs 04-27-2013 02:56 PM

Is the trail still on? If so, I'm in as of now, never done this one so not sure where the meet up location is.

Yepper! :D

Colo-TJ 04-27-2013 06:16 PM

Woot. Snow is probably minimal after this gorgeous weather.
