Help a kid out!

Well, I picked a pretty rare major in college. It's pretty hard to find a full time career in audio here in cleveland. I graduated about a year ago and after 82629 applications, nothing. I have my associates in Recording Arts & Technology (audio engineering) with experience in event/concert production. I currently work with live nation at an outdoor venue in cleveland but that is only seasonal and not very audio related. I'm turning to my jeep family now! I'm willing to relocate. If anyone knows of anything in their area relating to audio engineering I would love any and all direction. Thanks everyone!

Look at relocating, it is going to be your best bet. Start by looking at all the major cities in the US that have a history of music. I live outside of Austin and they have a ton of music events all around the year. Between SXSW and Austin City Limits alone you may be able to land a foot in the door type job.

I was audio/video broadcasting in Cleveland. Worked for a few companies on an independent contract basis and even did a little stint at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I did contract work because it's a hard industry to break into there. You may want to look into a smaller city. Littler easier to get into the industry in a smaller city, get experience and move on. Unfortunately I'm out of the business. Good luck!!

If You need to relocate, is it possible to make a list of Cities that show promise. Possibly You have friends or Family nearby that would put You up while You search? Just a thought..

Denver Colorado has tons of stuff going all year long, not sure what the job market is like for your area of expertise but there are tons of great wheelin trails around there also.

I'm an 110% willing to relocate. I've blasted out tons of emails to other cities outside of ohio, no replies. I guess I just need to stay positive and keep pushing!

My area of expertise are event promotion/production and live/studio engineering. I'd love to work with the entertainment for a casino. Still searching for that opportunity also.

Thanks for the help so far everyone.

Tons of casinos in Arizona. May be a good place to start looking

Put feelers out in Orlando. Disney, Sea World, Universal, etc., lots of sound engineering in play there. Not sure how competitive it is for the openings, but a high concentration of entertainment industry there, so maybe . . . .

you'll be competing against hordes of Full Sail grads in Orlando.

I was going to go to full sail but in my opinion it wasn't worth the money. I transferred from the university of dayton to the community college back home (no I didn't flunk out) lol. I changed schools to follow audio. Turns out our program was ranked better than full sail by industry professionals. That's just based on facility and course practicality.

Anyways, a friend of mine is moving back to Arizona because he just graduated from the program. His sister still lives out there and offered her couch to me if I wanted to make the move. I've been applying everywhere in Arizona and if/when I get the call I would love to move out there. She lives in chandler.
