Read turdhurdler's post "need help with my YJ" Also, you can search Jeep cranks but won't start"
Once you have done some reading, post up a little more info about your Jeep and we'll help narrow it down.
This is a very common issue, usually an easy fix.
I can tell you that if;
battery is good
cables are tight
and starter is good
then it would work...
I would go back and double check those things, make sure your battery does not fail under a load test. Make sure both ends of the battery cables are good, I've seen 'em come loose on the starter side as well. And if all else fails, have your starter bench tested.
And remember, use this chart when testing voltage on your battery. People say things like "11.9 volts, thats close enough to 12, it should start". Not always the case, as you see 11.9 is only 40% battery charge.
I found a wire that had come off of a solenoid on the passenger side fire wall I replaced the but connector and it did no work I replaced the solenoid with my back up and still nothing I had to push start it the other day because of this I jumped the starter with a screwdriver to see if it was bound up but it cranks over good
