for the motorcarft carb check ebay, theres a seller there that many use. for a HEI ignition check out CRT performance, look for the distributor for a jeep 258.

you can get the motorcraft carb 2150 and the HEI from CRT both from ebay, I have done it it's the best thing I have done to my jeep Check my build pictures and see all the junk you can remove from under the hood. Plus it runs so good,

Is there a "step by step" thread on how to do this?

BCDonny 05-04-2013 11:47 AM

you can google both and find tons of stuff

So i found a nice picture step by step Nutter Bypass thread here

This is a Picture Guide to Nutter Bypass - JeepForum.com

its on a 1990 4.2L and mine is a 1989 4.2L... they should be about identical, right?

Super, If you end up getting your carb from the Ebay guy, he will also sell you a HEI kit with very good instructions for $90 if I remember right. Just have him throw it on top. That is about as cheap as I could do from the AutoZone on my own.

Thats what I plan on doing after I do the nutter.. i wanna see how much the nutter helps...

or should I just order it and do it all at the same time?

What exactly does the HEI kit do? i see everyone saying to do it as well...

the HEI (high energy ignition) is a distributor with ignition control module and coil built in. it was used in late 70's gm cars. some people get them from a 6 cyl. and change the drive gear and use them. all it needs to work is one hot wire from your ignition switch so it eliminates a lot of parts.

And he provides detailed instructions on how to do it when you buy the carb and set up from him on Ebay?

Jerricho 05-07-2013 09:14 AM

Ya, he has a really good PDF that he sends with it. Loads of pictures, and step by step instructions.

superdiver 05-07-2013 11:45 AM

Awesome! Is there a couple of guys on Ebay that do this? Or only him? I wanna make sure i get it form the right guy...

Jerricho 05-07-2013 11:56 AM

ehrmannmp is the guy that has all the handy instructions.
