2012 JKU - W/O NAV - Backup Camera Installation Recommnedations?

Just got the JKU I've waited for, 2012 Dozer Sport, Katzin Leather, Infiniti Woofer, Freedom Top, etc...... Need to have a backup camera installed (too many kids in the neighborhood). I'm in the Columbia/Ellicott City Maryland area, any recommendations on a unit and an installer?

Thanks a ton!!!! :)

I bought a Boyo screen on Amazon and a pioneer camera and I'm very happy. I put the screen in the little cubby area above the stereo. I'll post a pic.

I installed this (4.3" screen) and it was pretty easy, total install time was only a few hours and I was taking my time. I wired it to my SPOD but you could put it on a switch and tap into the power elsewhere. Resolution is very good and it's great about picking up light in low-light situations. It's actually amazing how well this works in the dark. I like having it on a switch so I can turn it on whenever I want rather than just when it's in reverse (I can check on a load in the trailer for example).

If you don't need to retain U-Connect, any aftermarket GPS or DVD head unit, $160 harness and adapters (can be cheaper) and a $20 camera will be cheaper than going for OEM options.

Okay, as a solution, I'm considering an upgrade to the factory head unit - getting one with touch screen and video display. Is it possible to retain the audio controls on the steering wheel and Bluetooth control for answering the phone on the steering wheel? Any ideas? Suggestions?

I just sold the head unit I was planning to install, all the accessories are ready but still looking for a head unit I want. So, I can only provide some information I've found. There are also a few write up posted her.

You can take a look at this
http://www.wranglerforum.com/f40/201...up-217743.html

You can retain most steering wheel control using either PAC and Axxess interface. I do recommend the newer ASWC-1 which uses regular micro-usb cable to update software (and I did update the one I got) I'm not sure if the Call button will work with bluetooth in the head unit.

You also need a interface harness depends on you have factory amp or not, the Axxess one will retain front and back fading w/ stock amp (the instruction used CHTO-013, the newer one is CHTO-03).

With a Din kit and antenna adapter, it will cost about $150 if you look around. Using PAC RP4-CH11 will be cheaper which combines both interfaces, but it doesn't retain front and back fading with stock amp.

You will need to wire the microphone for Bluetooth, which should come with your head unit, since the stock Uconnect microphone has different connector.

Also, from what I've read the Socshe double din kit has a better fit than Metra, no trimming is needed.

Got a backup camera installed at Poptronics in Baltimore. Great service, price, and product. Highly recommend. Danny was great to work with.
