Duel exaust

Anyone else out there have duel exhaust on there inlines? I just got a flowmaster 40 series muffler and duel exaust on my 2.5l 4 cylinder and it sounds pretty dang good for a 2.5l! Just curious if I'm the only one?

Grizzlycb 04-26-2013 10:15 PM

I have a Pace Setter Header and a super 44 Series flow master and I love the way my 2.5 sounds. no dual exhaust though...

Squirrel 442 04-27-2013 04:51 PM

Most guys just run a bigger single pipe, but it is all up to you. That is the great thing about having your own jeep.

Would you mind sharing your layout/ design for it. I really want to do this with my 2.5l yj :)

dwsutton 01-24-2014 12:54 AM

dual exhaust on a 2.5 ? That is 1.25 L per exhaust.

Thomas S 01-24-2014 06:19 AM

Is it really dual exhaust or just dual pipes AFTER the muffler?

4 Attachment(s)
This is what I did with mine. I have no rear track bar which made room for the exhaust.

It's just duels after the muffler but it sounds pretty good if say and so have many others

It's just a single pipe to the flowmaster with a duel output and duel pipes all the way to behind the wheels

Michigan jeeper 01-24-2014 01:34 PM

Here's a video clip of it running sounds better now after break in but you get the idea http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ij5EYbIskJM

Does anyone make a true duals manifold for the six?

There was a company called Clifford Research that did a lot with 6 cyl motors. IdK if they are still around tho.

I was thinkign about posting this:

In order for your exhaust to duel, you would need dual exhaust, they could duel and duel until one wins, then one would die, and you would end up with single exhaust and all would be good....
Dual exhaust will also fail an emissions test, not only do you need single exhaust as Jeep designed, but duel exhaust would make it tough for the inspector to inspect, he might be hit with a wayward muffler from your dual exhaust during the duel...

My bad guys dual exhaust haha Except if it were to backfire then it may sound like an exhaust duel haha but here in Michigan we don't have inspections so I don't have to worry about that

Actually emission stations have an adapter that slips over the end of the probe with 2 tubes on it . It is meant for cars with factory DUALS,it gets an equal sample from both sides. We use to have emission testing in Florida and I have seen it used a lot.

I know this, but the Jeep YJ NEVER came from JEEP with dual exhaust, so it is an illegal modification...

I use it about once a week for those older vehicles that are still around that came from the factory with dual exhaust.
The one we use in Cali has a tap near the probe that allows the attachment of a second hose and tip for the second exhaust exit.

I looked in your profile to find that you have a 92, so I assume you have a 4.0. Early 2000's models had a dual output manifold, and some companies make headers for these models. I would think you could use one of those on your engine, the only hitch I can think of would be I don't know what you would do about your single O2 sensor.

Sorry I didnt realize you lived in the part of the U.S. that is under communist control.I dont see how they could give you greif over a muffler with two tailpipes coming out of it.A lot of cars come from the factory that way.

They where still kicking a year ago when I bought a 4Bl. intake to go on my 4.0 head for my stroker motor.
There motto is 6=8

2 tailpipes? thats ok, true dual exhaust, no.
to install true duals, thats 2 full exhaust systems.
Dual tailpipes doesnt matter, anyone can get a 1 in 2 out muffler and pipe it however they want.
Cali/Federal just wants everything AT and BEFORE the cat to be stock, or an approved aftermarket part.

Database: Aftermarket Parts Database of Executive Orders

Cali pretty much writes the rules as far as Federal approved stuff, most states follow Cali aftermarket parts exemptions.

Yep it's a '92 4.0. Sorry for not mentioning that!

I'm going to look for the dual output manifold. I'll have to figure out the sensor (no smog testing or inspection in Michigan thank God!). I'll look at a custom bent exhaust with minimal mufflerage lol. I want real duals.

Some of the new cars crack me up. An econobox where you can actually see the two pipes coming out of the single muffler is ridiculous. Not sure what they're trying to prove.

Wombat Ranger 01-26-2014 10:19 AM

I would think there would be some way to get around the O2 thing. It's possible you might even be able to just run it on one side and plug the other, since it measures the A/F ratio, not the volume of burnt fuel particles.
