Finally put my soft top on!

It was finally warm enough to put my soft top on. Got the Bestop Supertop NX. Installation took about 6 hours x 4 people but its done! The instructions at awful by the way...

I'm going to give my Trektop NX a shot just as soon as I get a warm, dry weekend here in Houston. Hoping it won't take 4 people and 6 hours though.

The directions were awful and we prob didn't really need 4 people but we made it a tailgating event ;) Drank some beers and enjoyed the sunshine!

Here's a pic with the top off.. First time ever since I've owned it :)

I just installed the Trektop NX on my 13 JK 2 door a month ago, took two guys and about 2 hours. instructions were horrible...used a video on youtube to help. Took the windows out this weekend, love the safari top option!

Same process this weekend. 1 person and 3 hours (and yes I got the Hard top off all by myself, with "direction" by a 10 year old). Hardtop on the DIY dolly, built from other great plans found around here.
Found an excellent write up on a different Jeep forum on putting on the Trektop NX

Do you have that link?

I'm seriously thinking of getting a soft top myself...I was reading the installation and it said 4 hours to install...just curious on why it takes so long. Seeing other posts here, I guess it's true.

Once installed, does it take that much time the following year? If you changed back to hardtop for the winter that is.

In my experience it took so long because the instructions are awful. The pictures are unclear and I ended up having to redo steps. There aren't that many parts so once you figure it out it should go smooth. There are also YouTube videos that can help if you get stuck. The other time consuming part was getting the fabric stretched.. So def make sure it's a super warm day and leave it in the sun for an hour or two prior to installation.

I haven't been through the take off process but it seems that it will come back off in one piece which would make next years installation go much faster :)

Good luck!!

I installed my supertop nx today. Took two of us 5-6 hours to get the soft top on. I was really disappointed at how bad the instructions are. I had to redo the side bow due to it being impossible to determine initially which side was which. As well as the bow mount #2 we couldn't figure out until we placed the frame on the truck and played around with it.

How hard would it be to have a left/right on the side bows? Or even farther with a "this side up" for some things.

I tried to look up videos online but could only find JK vids, nothing for my JKU. :(. I still need to wait until some hot sun comes my way tomorrow to get the header latches to lock in and one rear window to be able to clip into the door surround, but I expected that.

After all is said and done and I've taken out that pent up frustration at the gym I think the top looks great and can't wait to use it all summer for top down driving!! Seems like a very high quality product so far.

Just wondering if you were using the new 30+ page install manual that is posted on Bestop's site - I was beating my head against the wall Monday until I found the new install guide.

Well I went on a hunt for said manual... Didn't realize it existed!! I didn't realize they had the detailed manuals and that I had to click on the specific product on the website. Would have shaved off a good hour or two of my install time for sure! I tried googling anything on it and all I could find wasnt much more helpful than the manual that comes with it! Wish that had come up!

Lol well guess you live and learn and I'll know for next time. Although I won't be having any problems like this in the future regardless, now that I know what to expect.

Yeah I had to go to the Bestop website to acquire the instructions when I did mine last month. Only bad thing was printer was out of ink, and my wife took the laptop that day! Odd they don't send those instructions with the top.

Install my my Supertop NX was about 5 hrs. I watched the YouTube vid about 15 times before the install so the directions weren't the issue. The issue was holes not lining up exactly and then having to go back a few steps and re-do. And then the main issue was the fabric. I had to use a heat gun to help put it on. It was much more difficult than in the video.

But it was a super nice day here in the northeast and definitely enjoyed the top down driving.
