daystar tailgate bumpstop mounting problems

Im just curious if anybody else has had problems with these. I tried to install them but the threaded base is to big around, they only threaded in about half way and sit crooked because of this.

No issues. Maybe you didn't start then out straight when you screwed them in?

Firmly push in and turn until they completely seat.

No they were just too big. I tried several times and even put my body weight on them with a paint bucket lid while turning and put oil on them.

I had the same problem. I just got them about straight and torqued the lugs. So far, no rattle from the spare.

I had to cut mine down to fit.

Matter of fact, one broke recently and it's still in place :)

I've had the same exact issue. I've been sweating trying seat it properly. I have to trim it one of these days when I have time.

Nice!

Well I got them all the way in but I had to whittle them down with a knife, took maybe 1/8"-3/16" off the base of each one.

So I called quadratec about these before I started carving them up because I know they wouldn't take them back if I did and they said they would send me another set. I just got them and they are different than the others. These are hard rubber the others are soft foam and these are threaded all the way down the stud and the stud doesn't get bigger around towards the base. Im willing to bet the new ones will screw right in.

I just fixed mine yesterday. Carved the tailgate a lil bit using a flathead. I used wd40 and carefully pushed in the rubber piece. You have to be patient and try to push in the pieces. It's tough but doable.

Or try PVC (sprinkler type) with a threaded cap painted black. Pushes right into the factory rubber. Day stars broke the first time we mounted the tire.
