Is the wave dead??

I'm finding that less and less wrangler drivers are sharing a friendly wave when encountered on the road. I've been driving my wrangler for about 12 years now and when I first started in the wrangler life it seemed everyone gave that wave as they passed by. I hate seeing the times change.

CherokeeSailor 04-28-2013 10:28 PM

it's well on it's way, but not completely. I'm still getting the occasional wave back in my XJ. maybe 1 in 10 waves.

gixxerphil 04-28-2013 10:31 PM

In before the lock

TexasJeepGirl 04-28-2013 10:37 PM

We have figured out that around here there are too many damn soccer moms driving unlimiteds and they NEVER wave (most have scowls written across their faces), so we stopped trying all together. The modified jeeps and older jeeps almost always wave though!

greaser95 04-28-2013 10:39 PM

yeah I get the occasional wave but they have become far and few. I might as well be driving a honda civic... just kidding, i love my jeep

RevCo666 04-28-2013 10:40 PM

Some people up here do wave, but I gotta agree with TexasJeepGirl on the older/modded jeeps are the only ones who do... But like any wave, maybe the water is just calm for the moment :)

Fireaxe 04-28-2013 10:43 PM

The Wave is alive to real Jeepers. Keep waving, and educating....

valk1999 04-28-2013 11:05 PM

If it's not modified,I never get a wave. I don't even bother waving at any JK's any more,I am tired of the dirty looks I get in return

You get dirty looks? I usually get the "Hi but I don't know who the hell you are?" look lol But then again I like confusing people hehehe

Madden 04-28-2013 11:12 PM

I've had a few guys in modded TJ's and JK's not wave back at me, and my TJ is no where near stock. Guess it just depends on the area you live in

wrangleryj90 04-28-2013 11:15 PM

In my town I get waves from non jeeps even I my jeep but people know my jeep In a town of 2300 people lol but hen I drive I am normally 4/5 for waves

CarolinaBound 04-28-2013 11:24 PM

I propose we follow those who do not wave and educate them on it when they next stop somewhere.

imanotright 04-28-2013 11:39 PM

just keep waveing i do who's care they will wave someday,,maybe

wrangleryj90 04-28-2013 11:40 PM

I get bummed when I don't get a wave back from a jeep I like

RoadiJeff 04-29-2013 06:53 AM

The wave is alive and well where I live.

Shark_13 04-29-2013 07:27 AM

Some days are better than others. One day i was 6/6. Next day 0/5. Weird!
I have noticed same thing though, lots more soccer mom types in jks never wave back. Just pissed off look, which is most likely there all day anyways haha.

Raiderfan001 04-29-2013 07:30 AM

Is the wave dead? Nope. It will never die...just like wave threads...

I knew I wasn't the only one that felt this way hahaha:rofl:

blkrubi88 04-29-2013 09:58 AM

The wave is not as dead as this thread will be when a mod see's it.

MoBass 04-29-2013 10:02 AM

I just got my daughters Jeep done for her 16th. The first thing I taught her was the Jeep wave. Explained to her what it ment and don't expect the city yupies to wave back...

whetstone 04-29-2013 10:07 AM

I quit waving after reading all the nonsense and JK-bias in wave threads...
Mo bass, I'm right down the road from you, in Marshfield. Considering playing hooky for the rest of the day and putting a kayak in the river after all this rain!

KittyPrawn 04-29-2013 10:17 AM

I get more waves from JKs than I do any other Wrangler. Maybe your local JK drivers just don't like you!

I wave when I can, sometimes I miss it. But, hey, guess what... sometimes there are more important things to pay attention while to than making sure to wave. Maybe that just makes me one of those scowl faced soccer moms driving an unlimited, but I promise you I don't ignore you to ruin your day.

People need to relax about the wave. I wave all the time, I probably couldn't tell you how many people did or didn't respond, because it simply isn't that important.

TexasJeepGirl 04-29-2013 10:39 AM

This should be printed and handed to ever new Jeeper!

The Jeep Wave

That was a funny read... I just simply wave :)

The Jeep Wave

No :nonono:

People like to take that way too seriously. There's already enough judgmental attitudes floating around without passing something out that just gives people permission to look down on other jeepers.

Could not agree more.:thumb:

oJEEPo 04-29-2013 11:10 AM

The wave is very much alive in South Carolina.

C.L. 04-29-2013 11:20 AM

I had a chromed up H2 throw up the wave last weekend. I was too surprised to even process a reply until he was a speck in the mirror.
