SiriusXM renewal

Ok I got my renewal in the mail and it runs out May 28/13. The first renewal they sent out expired April 2/13. They offered $19.16 tax included per month or $211.91 tax included for the year. I ignored it and they just sent out another one with the same price. Should I wait until it expires May 28/13.

lolpetewtf 04-29-2013 07:24 PM

Lots of people get it for half that.

ESP 04-29-2013 07:26 PM

I like the sirius that came with our new jeep but after the year bleh....I don't want it for any $$$ really.

KingZ 04-29-2013 08:05 PM

I'm on my free trial that came with my Wrangler. It's neat but not neat enough for me to renew. Especially when I can just plug in my iPhone & play whatever I want.

VAPA 04-29-2013 08:06 PM

Let it run out, soon you will get a letter offering 6 months for $25.00, just be sure to call and cancel prior to the 6 month period ends, if you don't you will be billed for a 12 month package at full price.

Is there a way to listen to it online on your pc as part of our free trial too, or do you have to pay extra for that? I'd like to listen to Howard stern in the house once in a while. Probably won't renew it though. Maybe if they let you use one subscription for all your vehicles and in your house too.

mjpjr45 04-29-2013 08:45 PM

On my Mustang I got lucky. When I installed the stereo and activated the XM, they offered a lifetime subscription for $300. You were able to transfer it up to 7 times with a $75 fee each time. When I got it installed in my Jeep I asked for the same plan(still have the Stang) but they didn't offer it any more. :nonono:

I can't remember what I am paying now.

It's 3 dollars extra a month for PC and Smartphone.

You can also call them and tell them you want to cancel. They will offer you a much better deal. I turned them down on that and they came back with $25 for 5 months. I cancelled for now, tired of f---ing with them but will probably sign up again if they offer me a decent deal.

laollis 04-30-2013 10:41 AM

$25.00 for 6 months is about the best it gets with them. They know they have the monopoly and you can't get satelite from anyone else. Pretty much sucks to not have a choice.

141 04-30-2013 12:01 PM

Probably a good idea to get a prepaid credit card to use for the renewal transaction. I've heard of them tacking on fees to peoples
Cards on record.

Wharfrat 04-30-2013 12:30 PM

They have apparently renewed mine at $25 for 5 months. However, the lady placed me on hold, I lost the call, and she never called back. They never took a credit card number from me, and I told them I wanted it done as a one time payment before I was placed on hold.

What are they planning to do, bill me later?

Peter T 06-09-2013 05:59 PM

Well it finally ran out. Now back to plain old radio :) They sent 3 renewal letters all the same price. They all had 3 options available. Pay for full year, so many cheaper months the full price or just a monthly charge. Will have to wait and see if they send out a better offer.

VaderJK12 06-09-2013 06:30 PM

Wait for the $25 for 6 months deal.

I never renewed. Between the radio, iPod, Pandora, and CDs, I really don't need to pay for music.

joeg679 06-09-2013 06:45 PM

If you call and tell them that you got the 6 month renewal for 26 bucks, they will honor it. You don't actually have to get it in the mail. Sirius just wants subs, so they will do almost anything to sign you up.

DBJeep 06-09-2013 06:52 PM

I happen to like satellite radio, but the full package is too much $ for the use I get. There are less costly packages per month that they don't offer up front that get you more channels than you will ever listen to but at about $8-9 per month. Dig around on the SiriusXM web site. This is not the $25 for six month teaser that jumps up to $20 per month later on.

joeg679 06-09-2013 06:55 PM

Ive been on the 6 month plan for over 3 years. I just mark my calendar 2 days before it is set to expire and call and get the same deal. I have 4 subs on this, in different cars and on my iphone.

Peter T 06-27-2013 05:04 PM

So I have been without the Siriusxm for about a month. Got a card in the mail today offering $4 per month for 5 months. Then the normal price for the 6th month. Renewal semiannual. :whistling:

Play hard to get, they drop the price drastically to keep customers. Just stand your ground

kik 06-27-2013 06:22 PM

I found that if you actually call a customer service rep you get a better deal.

socal-jk 06-27-2013 07:27 PM

Wait unitl it expires. I did this with my Mini a few months ago. Deal with out it for a month and it went from $159 for a year to $29.99 for six months with another 6 months free....

laollis 06-29-2013 09:17 AM

SiriusXM have a monopoly and know it. No where else can you get satellite radio.

JKPaul 06-29-2013 10:26 AM

Got mine down to just over $4 a month. You have to negotiate, AND ask for a one year term then your not dealing with them so often.

Hee, hee... ever try and phone them for a cancellation? It'll take maybe 8 hours of waiting on the phone... if you're lucky!:whistling:

Once you take their offer, they've got your permission to charge your CC for future service at full price - so there's no reason for them to talk to you. I don't think they'll change until the government gets involved. What a Racket!

After you give them your card info and renew, call back later and ask to be invoiced instead of auto-renewed (and charged to the card they have) next time. I did that after an unpleasant surprise charge for a car I had sold.

ColoRubicon 06-29-2013 06:32 PM

I called the other day to purchase a subscription for a friend who bought a used car that has Sirius. I told the customer service rep that I wanted to surprise my friend and asked for the $25 offer for six months....her exact words were "We ain't got no offer like that".....Ugh! I talked to her for a few more minutes asking over and over how to give this as a gift, explaining that my friend would be a new customer etc., and she kept saying there was no way to do it, they had to have the radio ID etc., to see if there were any offers attached to THAT radio. My friend would gets suspicious if I started asking those type of questions and he wouldn't allow me to buy it so my great idea of surprising him won't work. :(

Hello All,
just wanted to throw my .02 in. I like mjpjr45 purchased the life time prior to the two companies merging on a previous vehicle, the better deal for me was once you have a membership or have become a life time subscriber the cell phone app is free but it allows you to have it on your phone and log in on your computer at work or anywhere for a little more that $39 per year.

jeeptrail 06-29-2013 07:05 PM

I wouldn't touch Sirius Radio with a 10' pole. Search out Sirius Radio complaints on the net; there's literally hundreds of horror stories with this company. Save ALL of your mail/Sirius offers, as proof you may need in court, should they sign you up anyway, or falsely bill you. STAY AWAY FROM SIRIUS RADIO!

JKPaul 06-29-2013 07:17 PM

Cancelled subscription on the wife's 2009 Ford Edge no problem. Added her new Edge, all OK. Cancelled my 2010 Wrangler last Sept., all OK, no extra billing My 2012 is still being paid for by Chrysler. Took about 10-12 minutes to cancel each one as I had to be escalated to a higher level. No extra billing occurred. That being said I am in Canada which might make a difference. Sorry to hear so many are having problems. There's nothing worse than getting poor customer service.
