Bikini Top for 2013 Wrangler Unlimited...worth it?

I bought a 2013 Wrangler Unlimited and am thinking about purchasing a bikini top for the summer. Does anyone have any experience with bikini tops? Are they worth it?

I used the spiderweb on my 2010. It kept my head from getting sunburned when everything was off.

IMHO it is definitley worth it. I also have a 2013 JKU. I just ordered the Best Top Bikini top, the Windjammer, and the Olympic Tube doors. I am also ordering the Tuffy Security Deck (the one that covers the whole tailgate) so I have a place to lock valuables.

My goal is to leave the hard top hanging from the ceiling in my garage as much as possible. The tube doors will probably just be a weekend thing with the whole doors back on during the week.

There good for keeping the sun off you constantly. It will help keep the seats cool as well.

Love mine. Use it often and it even keeps you reasonably dry in light rain

We have the same goals my friend. I'd like to buy the bikini top and windjammer to save some cash and avoid purchasing the soft top. I'm worried about rain and road trips however. Anyone know how bikini tops do it the rain?

^^^ I am worried about rain too.

Mine does OK with light drizzle/brief light rain...but that's with the full doors on and windows up. Doors off and the seats would be wet from rain coming in the sides.

We've had one or two really sunny days here, and I still have my hardtop on (going home in a little bit to build a hoist), but I can see how much a spiderwebshade is going to help.

A must have....

I have the Spiderwebshade, but haven't installed it yet. Need another set of hands to get my hardtop off to do it...

A friend is supposed to help build a hoist. Hope that comes through. I'm considering just running hardtop for work/tasks and just the trailmesh when at play.

I was looking into the bikini tops/duster/windjammer as I think they look damned cool but I don't know what's involved in installation. Would rather have something easy to swap from hardtop. Have heard that the Bestop Bikini is not waterproof.

If I get a hoist for my hardtop I may sell my soft top. It still has the tags on it and everything is boxed. Will see, things might change.

The material itself is 100% waterproof. But you'll obviously get rain in from the sides and the back depending on how hard it's raining and if you have no, half, or full doors on.

I'm going home to build my hoist in an hour. Gotta keep the soft-top...that is like 50% of the Jeep experience! (or so I hear....)

Personally I didn't like the bestop bikini on my hardtop 2012. Never tried it in the rain, but it just seemed sloppy after instal. I think the one that works with the cable style door surrounds would be very nice and I may pick one of those up someday.

I decided that the best bet for me was the mopar softop for now so I picked up a 2013 one on Craig's list that was still in the boxes.

I'll be selling my bikini now after only one day with it on. Others seem to love them, but it didn't seem like there was anyway it was going to keep things dry enough for my use.

Mine came with the hard top and I thought the soft top, what was missing was the windows (long story) - but after looking at the options I decided not to get the windows and I've since gone with the Bestop Cable Style Safari Bikini, however it does use the factory door surrounds for a tight fit. I'd heard the other Bestop Bikini flapped a lot. I plan to get a Windjammer as well. I felt this setup would allow me to stay out of the rain and sun, yet on very hot days I can close up a bit too.

JKini or full length? I was able to do my front without removing the hardtop completely.
Just unbolt everything, and jam something like a Nerf football between the top and the sound bar.

On topic: I am really interested in a bikini top/tonno cover combo also. Does anyone know if the bikini will work over a full length (4 dr) spiderwebshade?

st1264 04-30-2013 07:08 PM

Full length trailmesh so I need the hardtop to come off. Going to a friend's place to do my fog lamps so I might have him help me and we'll slap er' on.

Might want to consider the bestop trektop nx, I used it thru the winter here in Chicago and now I'm using it as my bikini top.
