Rear seat headrest assembly removal

I took the complete assembly out of my rear seat. Easy to do with a pair of needle nose pliers, 8mm wrench or socket. First lift headrest up in the middle of the fabric between the post u will see a small fold. Unfold. It's just plastic clipped together. Lift up fabric, u see 2 silver tabs. Push those in and head rest comes off the posts.

Next flip seat down. Careful u don't poke holes in front seat. Find the zipper on the side. Unzip. The larger part has a zipper on both sides. Unclip the fabric at the bottom backside. Reach your hand inside the front and separate the fabric from the foam. It's velcroed in place. Slide the fabric up. Then u can see the 2 bolts holding the mechanism. Unbolt. Follow cable down and undo from the clip that folds the headrest. Put back together. It can be returned back to factory if sold.

The hardest part was finding the zipper ends. Just take your time. I actually used a large flat screwdriver to coerse the zipper out from being tucked in

Nice write-up Dusthol. :thumb:

I did this a few months ago using a similar write-up from another forum. It was a PITA sort of for the reason you mentioned: it can be a real biotch getting the zippers opened up. And it was also very tight getting my hand up into the foam. I didn't want to completely remove the foam from the metal seat frames so I just stuck my hand and tool up in there and eventually found the bolt heads to remove.

I love the look much better and the view in greatly improved. I couldn't see anything out the rear with those huge head rests in the way.

Nice. I did the spring removal so they will stay folded down unless I have passengers and want them up. But this is much cleaner.
