New speakers

I have been wanting to replace the junk speaker system in my new 2013 jeep wrangler 2dr but I have no idea what speakers to go with. So I was hoping you guys had some ideas.

Thank you

Ask, and ye shall receive.

It's really simple. Just take your time and don't force anything - everything fits when you do it right.

You rock!! Thanks!!

If you want to use the factory grills/stay stealth, I'd say the most common are the Polk Audio DB651s's (slim), the Kicker 77Kick10's. There were also some Infinty 6.5"'s, that were either 2 or 3 ohms (better match for the factory amp), but I can't remember if they fit behind the factory grills or not. They were also reported to have had pretty weak bass response.

I went with the Kickers and a new HU. The Kickers are great.

The brackets come with the db651 and db6501 units, but not the slimline db651s's. You need them with all of the Polk speakers, so if you put the slimline units in then yes, you need to buy the adapters.

I put the component db6501s in the front, so yes, I replaced the tweeters.

Kicker vs Polk? Which one has better sound quality and bass?

Will replacing the dash and sound bar speakers with Polk or Kickers make an improvement for those that have the 2013 Alpine premium system?

Mildly, but you won't really get the benefit of new speakers unless you replace the factory amp as well.

I installed a JVC head unit, then installed Polk Audio DB651S's. They clipped pretty bad so I amped them. Then I felt I needed more base so I got a Kicker 10" and had to get another amp cause the first one didn't have power output for more than 4 speakers. I think I ahve the specs on my jeep profile. Anyway, I can jam down the road at 65mph topless with no problem. These are among my favorite mods.

Tip: get an amp that can power 5 speakers the first time. I have lost free space under both my front seats.

I have a 13 JKUR and have went to kickers replaced the sub and added a lc8 because i want to keep the stock look. I to have lost the space under my driver and passenger seats but I came up with this bracket you see :) makes everything work out great!

Go to eBay, and search for "Jeep Wrangler Jk Unlimited Under Seat Bracket." I would post a link but I don't want to break any forum rules.

Homemade in wisco. I like it.

I put quite a set up a long time ago in 95 4runner and around 2003 or 2004 everything started going wrong with the stereo and then the entire electrical system in the truck. That being said the sound is not great with the so called premium system and at some point I see my myself making some changes but making every effort to keep the 730n which costs too much to start. This sounds like a good way to tackle the project. Once I see how the stock premium system sounds with he top off (assuming it gets above 70 again) this mod may happen sooner than later.

Infinity 62.9i. Just installed these in the sound bar last week, sound is fantastic even with the underpowered factory headunit. They will take 75 watts RMS all day long if you want to run an aftermarket headunit and amp. Sensitivity is 95db which will be hard to beat, and they come with the adapter plate so installation is quite easy. Just need to corresponding Metra speaker harness so you won't have to cut any of the factory wiring. It was between these and the Polks, but liked the specs and the grilles better as they actually look semi-stock.

You need to replace the factory amp. I have a 2013 JKU and replaced all 7 speakers including the sub-woofer (which you can't control or hear). I have a 130N unit and left the HU in the Jeep. I replaced all speakers with much better 4 ohm speakers and a controllable sub-woofer. I am sure other speakers will do, like Polk, etc. but I went with some very high grade speakers. My system is night and day. It really ROCKS.

These are similar to the Infinity's I was looking at. 2ohm voice coil and great sensitivity will probably make these the loudest/most efficient you can get by running just the stock HU. Good to see a positive review on these.

Order placed! I have a JL Audio 900/5 and I have been looking for a safe place to mount it, out of sight and above leaky water. Thank you.
