Trail Run Tuesday May 15th

Anybody free for a potential run the 15th? My gears should be all broken in at that point.

Sinister6 05-02-2013 12:10 PM

I could do a Monday or Wed...

chrisfp88 05-02-2013 12:17 PM

fudge I have Tuesdays off.

Sinister6 05-06-2013 02:52 PM

Chris, You been out with those new gears yet??

chrisfp88 05-06-2013 02:56 PM

No sir. I was gonna try to go tomorrow but I still have 200 miles left on break in and I'm meeting a guy in Denver tomorrow for adjustable control arms. Then the 14th I got called in for jury duty. Apparently offroading doesn't count as a reasonable excuse. Lol. I get to call the couet next monday night to see if I can skip it but I'm not holding my breath.

They told you not to wheel during break in? When I picked mine up from Josh, he told me to go 500-600 miles and then change the fluids on the rear, and then change the front once I've done that much in 4wd. He told me as long as I'm not trying to pull a horse trailer, I could pretty much do whatever.

chrisfp88 05-06-2013 03:30 PM

He told me no aggressive stuff to include wheeling.

Even though there is no power going to the front in 2wd doesn't the ring and pinion move?

chuckr 05-06-2013 03:33 PM

Interesting....by the time I'm able to get on a trail I'll have passed my 500 miles anyway, but it's interesting to hear the different approaches for break in.

OK, so I found another thread that says yes, everything is turning in 2wd including the ring & pinion and driveshaft, it is just not under power. Sorry to hijack your thread....

So we just got the 5.38's and I'm curious about the break in process. 5-600 miles then change the fluid is what I'm understanding?

Oh and sorry... Probably shouldn't have asked that on your trail thread. I'd love to make it. But the upgrades are still impairing us.

Ya. I'm due to change mine now. I'm at 600. 500-600 should be fine.

Your gear manufacture will have specific guidelines to follow. Most include a 500 ish fluid change.
