Winch mounting questions
After taking my TJ offroad with some NJ WF Jeepers last Sunday, I've decided that I want a winch. I've pretty much settled on a Warn VR10000. I'd rather have the extra power for the little extra cash over the 8000.
My questions are about getting it mounted. Of course I need a mount. Which one should I go with? My TJ has a Smittybilt Classic Rock Crawler w/ d-rings.
Next question: The weight. The bumper added 40lbs. My TJ currently has a 2in spacer lift with stock springs. The VR10000 will add another 89lbs to the front end. I want to maintain a level look. Could I keep the rear spacers, and just get different springs for the front, or should I get a proper 2 or 2.5 in lift kit with springs, shocks etc. I experienced no driveline vibes with my 2in BB Teraflex lift and would like to keep it that way.
Any help is appreciated!
If you have a small friend have them stand on the bumper to see how much sag you will experience.
As for the mount i used the raised smittybilt mount.
I've been doing some research. It seems the Rusty's 3in spring might solve my problem. I took off the hardtop a couple of weeks ago, and she seemed to sit level. But after these couple of weeks it seems the rear is sitting a bit higher. Maybe the rear is "used to" the lighter weight?
Tomorrow morning I'm going to take some measurements from my frame to ground front and rear.
I put a 40lb bumper on the front, and I'm going to add a winch that weighs 80-90lbs.
So, maybe that 3in spring minus the 2in spacer (stock spring isolator still in place) plus all that weight will give me a level Jeep?
I'm thinking Jeep modification should be a college major!
