Large hand bolts on hard tops t-tops

Do you guys install the large hand tightened bolts on your t-tops when your hard top is on? Just curious. If you dont do you get any leaks?

I took the bolts out the first time I took off the freedom panels and never put them back in. I have yet to have a leak(knock on wood). I've been running it that way for about a year now.

I keep them because I think it would slow down someone stealing the Freedom Tops.

i leave mine in. you can see that the rear of the t-tops do not line up with the rest of the hard top with them out.

Never put mine In this winter. Some people have leaks, some don't.

Hmmmm. I have left mine in since new. They really tightened up over the winter. The driver side was a huge PITA to get out today. I guess next season when the hard top goes back on Ill leave em out and see what happens.

Thanks for the replies

Bob

They should be in only finger tight.

But for some people ( namely ME) "TIGHT" is just after something is broken :D :D, so "SNUG" will get 'er done!!!! .. But....... I just leave them out anyway!!!! :thumb:

At first I had mine in 'snug' but not 'tight'... and two months later was wondering about 'that knocking sound'... and a few days after that, the whole bolt/plastic-cup-head fell out and into the back seat footwell area. I too noticed that without them that looking from above the roof the rear area where the panels meet is not flush with the back section of the hard top. So, for the winter when I have the hard top on, I have them in. Not cranked down tight, but I reach back and check them from time to time to make sure they haven't loosened up on me again.
