Bushwacker Trail Armor
Anyone use the side rocker panel? Months of searching for used rubicon rails has turned up nothing in my area. I really just want something to cover the area up and I am not concerned about the actual protection since I have sliders already. These look pretty clean compared to just painting the pinch seam.

I looked at these at EJS this year and they looked good on the jeep. The ones they had doubled as door sill plate protectors also. They actually wrapped up into that area.

I've got them on mine. I don't have any close up pics but you can see them in this one.

Do they extend all the way down and cover your pinch seam? They look good on your Jeep!

They do cover the pinch seam. I got them mainly because I was getting chips in the paint in that area from rocks. They also wrap around and cover the door sills.

Does install require drilling holes?
I see on the JKU they have 6 screws across the bottom, do you need to drill holes in the body to mount these?

No you don't have to drill. There are already 6 holes from the factory in the rockers for these. If you look up the part on Qtec, it has the install PDF that you can download.

Bushwacker 14012 flares install with factory running boards
I see a picture of a black JKU with the bushwackers and OE running boards installed. I was under the impression that the bushwackers used the same holes and you couldn't run both together, did you need to mod the bushwackers to get them to fit/work with your OE Runningboards?

Subscribed. I really like the added door sill protection.

I have these on my 2 door, they cover up the pinch seam and look really first. I'm actually going to take these off. After awhile they look really bad and its just more plastic that you have to treat once it starts fading. Also, I can see dirt that is trapped in mine so I'm sure it holds debris. Plus i can't believe i paid $150 for something that is plastic when you can get metal rocker guards that look much better for twice that, or rubicon rails if you find a good deal.

Barmanvarn 07-03-2013 09:34 AM

They're plastic?

Ugh, count me out then.

Morgan 07-03-2013 10:27 AM

yes they are.

In admit I'd only want them to clean up the pinch seem but the maintenance on plastic is often worse than for metal products.

update: tried to clean mine today with back 2 black like my fenders. They didn't look near as good as my fenders so I took them off. Sure enough, perfect lines of scratched paint where the adhesive tape bonds to the body. I was just going to replace them with rubi rails once i found them, but will now probably have to get nicer rocker guards like poison spyder or something.

I know this thread is a bit old, but does anyone know of a metal version like the bushwacker rocker panel and sill guards. I'd really like to cover up some of the wear by the entry step, and cover up some rock chips down at the pinch weld. However, I would like to go metal, plastic just seems to be worse as far as keeping it looking nice (it tends to fade). I have seen some options by smittybilt and posion spyder but they require drilling and I would prefer not to drill holes in the JK. I'd like to be able to pull it off and bedline as needed if it gets knicked up and i'd like to run some kind of rock rails with it. Any sugguestions are appreciated!
