Tail Light Mod.

1 Attachment(s)
Finally getting around to installing my tail light guards. I've always noticed that the tail lights on these Jeeps are always so dim. So while I had everything apart I sprayed the the inside of the housings bright white. I even painted the clear lens for the license plate(why make it easy for the traffic cameras?). I don't know why Jeep doesn't do it. Every other light that I've opened had some sort of reflector behind it.

Pretty sure the license plate light has to be functional.

Most of my old cars that have the bulbs built into the trunk lid are usually non functional and caked on mud and rust. I Never had a problem. I never had an inspection hinging on license plate bulbs.

Besides the white paint is translucent over the clear lens, a little light might get through.

All states require a tag light

Require, yes. Inspect for or pull you over for it...............................

Same thing with mirrors, it's illegal in Indiana to not have any but I never run any when I go doorless and have yet to be pulled over for it

OK. Let's forget the tag light.

What do you guys think of my idea. How come nobody has done it, and do you think it'll make a difference?

I would have used aluminum duct tape like they use in Hvac work. As for the liscense plate light. No reason to give them a reason to pull you over ;)

You dont have one on your windshield?

BWolfE84 05-04-2013 02:44 PM

lets see what they look like compare to the old ones

Follow-up:

They are definitely brighter. No doubt about it. But I don't know if it was really worth the effort. If I was going to do it again, I don't think I would bother
