Can't order the jeep I want :(

The two dealerships I've been to today cannot order the jeep I want. Apparently Jeep is no longer making the Dozer color. My second and third choices (deep cherry and crush) aren't bing made either. I don't want to settle for any other color. Have my heart set on Dozer. Should I just wait for the 2014s then? Or what?

What's more the first dealership had no clue how to order half doors. Have to mark the jeep as sold before he begins to build it, or the option for half doors is grayed out. No wonder I can't find a JK with half doors, the dealerships can't even order them from Jeep that way.

Charles.

MTH 05-04-2013 03:26 PM

Yep.

Jeep runs colors quick. I remember being shocked when "deep water blue" was over in two years.

There will be something else next year.

live_slow 05-04-2013 03:30 PM

Charles,

I had a similar but much more minor problem. Near the end of March, the dealer told me he couldn't order 6MT. He only said it was restricted, but didn't know why. (This is a small town dealer, not a big, slick place.) Anyway, a dealer here told me the restriction would lift on a specific day, and it did. Also, I had half doors in the order but changed them at the last minute.

I assume your situation is more complex though, so the only advice I'll offer -- WAIT and see if your color comes up near the beginning of June. If it doesn't, then order a 2014 in July. Hopefully that color will carry over, or a new one will be your fav.

I pulled the trigger on my current truck in a color that was my fourth choice and that was a mistake. I chose right now over get it right later. Some people don't care about color, but I've learned it's a bigger deal to me than what I thought.

LoveJiuJitsu 05-04-2013 03:38 PM

Wow, I just posted a similar thread, related to Crush. (Had it deleted due to Google-fu)

They are no longer making Dozer either???!!! ARGH.

I wish they would release their next year set of colors before discontinuing a certain color!

I mean c'mon. Only 1 year of Crush? 1.5 for Dozer? So damned frustrating!

jeepers29 05-04-2013 03:57 PM

I just saaw an !0th aniv. at the dealer in anvil, wow that color rocks.

Miser 05-04-2013 04:14 PM

The color is one of the most important item's that you can get on any vehicle that you purchase.
What is the first thing that you will see everyday when walking out to your new Wrangler, THE COLOR. You will be sorry if you settle for anything less.
Have you considered looking out of town, or even out of State.
When I was ready to purchase my 2013 Rubicon, I only wanted Black and had to wait about two months to get one in with the color and features that I wanted.
In my case, if a Black one was not available, then I would have waited for the 2014s.
Please think about what I have said and don't settle for second best!
Good Luck!!

p-nut 05-04-2013 04:19 PM

Never settle for second best. You will never be happy with it.

Sinister6 05-04-2013 04:56 PM

there's always Plasti-dip...:whistling:

Old Dogger 05-04-2013 05:10 PM

This all depends on the primary usage of your Wrangler purchase. If it is going to be used as a Mall Crawler, then by all means get your color of choice. Don't settle for anything less. Keep it polished so all of them Mall shoppers just drool over it.
If you are going to be a rock crawler and Mudder, then it is going to be covered in dust and mud with rock chips all over it so therefore any color will suffice.....
Now since your heart is really set on it then you had better go out of state and get your Dozer!
ENJOY.......................

Yep, I wanted the Crush or True Blue, settled for Flame Red which just became available the first of April. Of course the Flame red is the only reason the unit is not built yet. Anybody who ordered the day I did has the units built and shipped to the dealerships.

Who knows what the 14's will bring in color, could be good or way off base.

ChopperCharles 05-04-2013 05:16 PM

This will be my daily driver. I've already checked there are no Dozer JKs with 3.73 gears in 1000 miles, much less one with half doors.

dieselgiant 05-04-2013 06:39 PM

Dozier, crush, and a few other colors are not very big sellers for Jeep. White. Black, Blue and Silver are the main ones. Fortunately I wanted Billet and its a popular color.

I've got to order it though. I will not be happy unless I have half doors. If I am going to spend 27 grand on a car, it's damn sure going to be EXACTLY what I want.

Charles.

ChopperCharles 05-04-2013 07:50 PM

None of those jeeps has all the options I want.

I want:
Deep tint
3.73 gears
Anti-spin differential
Half doors
Soft top

I could go either way on the transmission. Gears top doors and tint are not negotiable.

Charles

positrak 05-04-2013 07:53 PM

OEM half doors can be got at anytime:

MOPARŪ Jeep Doors - Quadratec

if that crush stick with 3.73 is of interest, tell the dealer that, that you want half doors, and to give you the difference in cost or apply it to the sale price.

positrak 05-04-2013 07:55 PM

tint soft top windows is another thing that can be swapped out. only real hitch left is anti spin, combo that and 3.73 will be real luck.

--
obviously you could negotiate that as well, putting the anti-spin in.

ChopperCharles 05-04-2013 08:05 PM

Yeah, OEM half doors can be purchased for like $2500 after paint and trim and re-keying the locks and all the other crap that has to be done. I'd rather spend that on tires, nerf bars, a hitch, and still have money left over.

I don't want a second choice. If I'm going to spend 27 grand on a vehicle, I'm going to get one that I walk out to every morning and think "this is awesome". I don't want to think "man, I wish I had gotten the yellow one..." when I see it.

Charles.

JKBrad 05-04-2013 08:53 PM

FUnny thing with Jeep colors. Just wait a few months and they will change.

I went to the dealer all set to get Dozer. Then I saw Commando Green and that's what I got. I would have been happy with Dozer though. Then Dune came out, and Anvil...Still happy with mine though because it's a color that I didn't settle for.

My daughter went last year wanting to buy a silver one, she left with Cosmo Blue.

There is an Amber color coming out for 2014 that looks like it will be very close to Dozer

DJL2 05-04-2013 09:57 PM

Jeep does some runs of colors I really like - different shades of tan and green, billet, anvil...heck, even the silver is pretty nice.

I drive a black Wrangler because, ultimately, having a Jeep was more important to me than having a specific color.

For me, having an Unlimited Rubicon with a 6-speed, leather seat trim and hard top was more important than getting the color I wanted. Hard to find manuals and harder still finding Jeeps without lots of "bells and whistles."

ChopperCharles 05-04-2013 10:57 PM

I can understand that. But this is my play car. I don't want it in an old man sedan color. I want a fun color that isn't red. Every time I see a yellow wrangle my eye is drawn to it. I didn't want a yellow one before I saw it in person, and now I want nothing but :)

Charles

ohioviper 05-04-2013 11:19 PM

Pick up one of the Dozers left on dealers lots and buy a set of aftermarket half doors. The colors are limited runs and when they are done building them you are shit out of luck. I snagged my Gecko when I did for this very reason. It was hard to find even while they were making them.

ChopperCharles 05-04-2013 11:47 PM

Again. I will not own a crappy set of leaky ass doors. I want oem doors.

Charles.

legitposter 05-04-2013 11:56 PM

You're way too picky. Don't give yourself a heart attack over a vehicle. Find another color and learn to love it. Buy aftermarket doors or buy OEM doors separate from the vehicle purchase.

There, you're done. Enjoy.

I think "dune" is a current color and it is yellowish.

Sgt93 05-05-2013 12:29 AM

There is a loaded (leather nav etc) new Dozer Rubi 2-door at a dealer by me (IL). If you want the contact info, I can get it for you. It's a small dealer so I bet they will wheel and deal. Don't want to break any forum rules (not affiliated and bought my Jeep from Pat at Fields), but PM me and I will try to help you out.

ohioviper 05-05-2013 12:58 AM

I dont think your going to get a Dozer with half doors unless you buy one off the lot and order the OEM doors and have them painted to match. Shit out of luck seems to apply to you.Time to lower your standards or open you wallet.

I know... It is truly unfortunate that the TJ isn't being built anymore. ;)
