Removing Doors - wire

Just got my new Jeep (2013 2dr Sport) and I can't wait to try it without the doors. Took a quick look and noticed what looks like a wire that would need to be unplugged (drivers side - did not check other side). Just curious as to what this wire is for? I have no power locks or anything and I can't figure out what it would be for? Anyone know? Or maybe I'm missing something obvious.

It triggers the dome light. Thankfully without the wire connected you don't need to pull the dome light fuse like you did on the older Jeeps.

As said, it's for the dome light and door ajar sign. I just removed my doors today, be sure to not use force while pulling those wires, just pull down that red tab and push on the black tab.

And your door ajar sensor is tied into your alarm. Pretty important bit of wire. You have a harness on both sides (and on all four doors if it's a JKU), just reach into the footwell and you'll see a plug - pull the red tab down until it clicks, then press the button in and disconnect the harness.

I still have not figured out where the door ajar sensor is on these things. these new vehicles use wizardry I swear.

lets not forget it shuts off your radio too!

Thanks all! I figured the door sensor would have been in the door frame somewhere but it makes sense now.

The radio will go off after a short time even with the wire disconnected. I never connect it in the summer, saves a step taking the doors off.
