Paracord grab handles!

Ok I know there are other post on these awesome paracord grab handles but I just wanted to show you all mine that I made! They turned out great and save me close to 100 bucks. You can buy these from a guy who makes them online called surprisestraps or you can do like I did, buy the paracord on eBay...cheap, and make them yourself. Tell me what you think.

Nice! :)

These are awesome. About how long does it take to make one?

Bamafever19 05-06-2013 01:57 PM

20 minutes each they are real easy to make just Tara a little time not bad. Go to YouTube and look up how to make jeep paracord grab handles, and there is a great vid showing how to make them.

Thanks man. They look difficult to make due to how well they turned out, but I'll take that as you have a very skilled hand! Will tackle this weekend.

It looks difficult but it's really not, just watch the video and once you get the pattern down, it's called a cobra weave, you'll make these in no time!

I was bored last night so I started practicing. It really is quite easy once you get the hang of it. I didn't have any paracord so I just used some polypropylene rope. I don't even necessarily know what I'll do with what I made but I'm pretty confident when I pick up some paracord it will be easy:)

I made a set for myself too. Instead of a string loop for the front ones I did a full grab handle and wrapped it around.

Works good with soft top, a bit too thick with hard top. I am going to make a second set over summer with a single row of braiding instead of double to use for the loops.

Anyways this looks hard but isn't and is a lot of fun. I found the worst part was the trial and error for sizing.

I tried going round the roll bar up front with the braided paracord but it sagged to much so I took it off and and did the string to get the snugg fit. But either one looks good

What's the difference between "string" loop and full grab handle? Is it explained in the video?

Bamafever19 05-06-2013 04:14 PM

If you look at my picture, the handle in the front of the jeep has just a string going around the rollbar. You have the option to do that or make the braided part that can go around the roll bar. I just used a string for 1) saves paracord string and 2) gives it a snug fit around the bar.

I see. Are these things real stretchy? Will they support the weight of an adult pulling on them to aid in getting in and out of the Jeep?

Bamafever19 05-06-2013 04:43 PM

These are not stretchy at all. When buying these, make sure you get the 550 paracord straps. The 550 means it can hold up to 550 lbs. these are used by the military as parachute straps. That's where the para comes from, so yes it will definitely hold you if your not over 550, no offense if you are... But they are super tough

Bamafever19 05-06-2013 04:44 PM

The reason I know this because I'm in military now an use these all the time ;)

Those look great. Thanks for the link, I think I may give it a try. Nice thing is that you will always have some paracord available in case of an emergency.

Yea I realized that after I submitted the question. I was getting these confused with that bungee type cord with the metal hooks that people use to strap stuff down in truck beds etc.

They look great, good job!
