What Manufacturer Does Anyone Suggest For My New 4.88 Gears I need to Purchase?

Curious what brand people prefer. About to order two sets for my Automatic Rubicon with 33's. What brand people have had good experiences with and which ones should I stay away from.

I asked my local gear guru this same the other day and he said he prefers yukon.

Yukon, Nitro, Motive, G2, and Superior (if you can find them) are all good options. I am going Motive, personally after a lot of reading and consulting my 'go to/advice' expert.

Just had Nitro gears installed last month. Have about 1200 miles on them, very quiet.

Thank you guys, good input. I hadn't even been thinking Nitro or Yukon.

I got Nitros for mine - showed them to 2 independent reputable dana diff installers - they both said the finish on them was below average and I could expect noise from them.
Had them installed for over a year now and they haven't missed a beat - also haven't had any noise :)

Nitros installed last month. No issues so far.

Telarian 05-07-2013 07:27 PM

700 Miles on the Nitros so far. Real quiet also!!!

And I've had mine for just over a 1000 miles. Dead silent.

Where did you buy them at?

O_M_Jeep 05-08-2013 07:11 AM

I used Motive Gear with Nitro master install kits. Very complete install sets and very nice gear sets. Also you might try East Coast Gear & Supply (ECGS).

I'll agree. If you look at what they are made of, it's the same Heat treated 8620 metal.

I just put the Motive on mine 700 miles ago and, after the 500 mile break in period, they are performing well and are very quiet at 700 miles.

JTs Parts and Accessories Justdifferentials.com worked with Mike Mundinger. Was a great guy!! Real helpful!! Emailed me a price quote to look over first with all parts and install kits.

yoopone 05-09-2013 05:48 AM

Thanks again guys, I appreciate it.

00TJSport 05-09-2013 07:19 AM

My Nitros came from JT's too.
Justdifferentials.com out of Washington.

I ordered the Nitro's from JT's. Should have them in time for the weekend!
