Flappy windows!!

I can hardly get the wife to ride in my '92 b/c the windows flap when I get up to 45mph or above, especially when the wind is gusty.. I have a Best top soft top/windows. Has anyone figured out a way to help solve this?

Take the top off.

fire66dave 05-06-2013 09:50 PM

Lol! Absolutely the best remedy...kinda sucks in the rain tho... Or below 55 degrees

Does it flap when completely zipped up ? Mine typically oy does it if I have a side window down and the air goes back and can't get out.

I call this a blessing, there is nothing better then keeping the wife AWAY from my Jeep.

Mine flaps only if I did a crappy job putting the top up.

Then with the door windows I sit them in the sun for some time before I wrap them around their frames

I went to Lowes a bought some pipe insulator padding to wrap the rear bars that the windows flap against. No more flapping and it does not look bad. I'll snap a pic, the padding also works good on go kart roll bars:thumb:

Here is a pic, I also have a Best Top. You can see the spot were the bar was rubbing the window.

Maybe I should clarify: it's my door windows, and it flaps on the upper part

Is the seal good? You need to bend the upper bar frame a little so the door seals against the top.

Edit: are your windows like mine?

fire66dave 05-07-2013 03:53 PM

Yes, just like yours

Squirrel 442 05-07-2013 04:12 PM

Per instructions you grab each corner of the metal frame on top and bend the bar inward (toward the jeep) until you have a good seal.

For comparison, when I pop the latch to open the door from inside my jeep the doors spring open. I have zero leaks and zero flapping.

Just bend it a little at a time until it has a tight seal.

Your door fabric/window isn't loose is it?

fire66dave 05-07-2013 10:14 PM

No, it's not loose... Hey thanks for the tip, I'll try it out!

Squirrel 442 05-07-2013 11:10 PM

That should fix it then, and you're welcome :thumb:
