04 Rubicon Transfer Case

I really hate sounding stupid, but here it is. Can someone tell me which t-case is for the Rubicon. Is it a NV or NP 241 ? I keep getting mixed answers and now my confusion is overwhelming me.

stumpbuster 05-07-2013 10:35 AM

nv241

JonnyZero 05-07-2013 10:46 AM

See, this is what I mean,
Reading a write up on JP Mag that says "NP"

NP241... NP is the manufacturer New Process Gear

NV as in the transmissions is a company NEw Venture gear... Both run by a parent corp if i remember

mrpotatohead 05-07-2013 11:05 AM

Did some digging. I was wrong. It's NV241.. I'd heard both too and being that they were in fact run by magna I would just go with both

Yeah, they have one listed on their website, but they don't actually have one.

Found one in Iowa for $1500, $400 core and $100 shipping. So $2k for a used t-case. I dunno. Seems really high.

I think my buddy paid somewhere around 800-1000 for his, picked it up in MD. Just keep looking. Do you need one now or just want to swap?

Been needing it for a year. Well, I bought the totaled Rubi a year ago this month. I'm down to the t-case, transmission oil cooler line and front drive shaft.

Just found another rebuilt one in Md. $2100 + $500 core + shipping. I can buy a brand new Atlas for that.

Thinking about changing everything out and sticking a 231 in her. At least I would be driving.

GoldenSahara00 05-14-2013 10:04 AM

That's bad. Worst case throw a cheap np231 in and then you can swap in the rubi case when you find one reasonably priced.

JonnyZero 05-14-2013 12:57 PM

If I throw the 231 in, would I need to change anything else?

yes. probably more trouble than it's worth.

also, NP = NV. basically interchangeable when talking about the TJ series.

New Process was bought by New Venture Gear...or they changes names....or something like that.
