I felt the need to post and share my appreciation with others for my 87 YJ. I have had it over a year now and I read the forums daily to see what I can expect to go wrong or what I need to do.
What I have found in reading the forum is my mildly lifted YJ with 31's is not normal. It has all of the vacum hoses which function, all the original emissions equipment, original Carter carb that everyone hates. It will do 75 on the highway and I can get the rpms to go above 5000 if needed. sure parts have been replaced for new versions as they wear out.
I know there are a lot of things I should do to the jeep to make it perform better and make it look better, but there is something fun to me about opening the hood or stepping inside and it looks like it did in 1987.

Yep, it was designed to be a jeep. Once you put a big lift, and tires you need to do gears and SYE etc etc. If not done correct upgrades can be a nightmare.
I love my upgrades, but they drain the wallet faster than a fat kid eats cake.

the 75 mph I believe, you will have to show me on the 5,000 rpm. personally I like looking at an unclutered engine compartment with a holley 4bbl and HEI ignition but to each his own.

Nothing wrong w/ a stock rig.....I drove the bajeezus outta mine until the original trans gave up the ghost & I got tired of messing w/ the Carter carb.

Most mods are made as things get broken, then you realize that you need something beefier or stronger, so you upgrade.... and the build goes on....
It's a shame to waste good parts - buy it, drive it, break it, build it stronger.
Vehicle carnage is just a darn good excuse to buy more fun stuff! :thumb:

Mine is very close to stock. I dont plan on doing anything to it other than normal maintenance and maybe some audio mods. Thats it
